I think that was posted here awhile back as:
SHIFT+E+2
But, I'm not sure as I don't have any freighters.

Look at the posts on the thread 4 down about the DC8-73F??'s. Very informative..... Had the freighters for several years and never knew about the cargo igloos moving forward.

SHIFT + E + 2 are the keyboard commands that should open the maindeck forward fuselage cargo door on all HJG DC8 freighter models.
Additionally you need to check that the following data also appears in your AIRCRAFT.CFG file ....
[exits] number_of_exits=2 exit_rate.0=0.8 ;Percent per second exit_rate.1=0.5 ;Percent per second
It should be there regardless.

Hm.. actually it's:
[Exits] number_of_exits=2 exit.0=0.8 exit.1=0.5
and that is for FS9.
FSX is another ballgame, but more about that later.....

Dan & Mark, both of those are workable in FS2002 and 2004.

Okey Dokey, thanks for clarifying that.

I just downloaded my first Freighter, a DC8-50F.
I've tried every combo I can think of and I still can't get the main cargo door open. Pushing SHIFT+E+2 opens the right rear pax door and opens the radio rack. Config file has the proper entry for the exits.
Any ideas?

Radio rack? I didn't know I had built a radio rack into that model. Gremlins!

"SKYKING"
I confirm those cargo door commands are as follows ....
SHIFT .... E .... 2
You also need to ensure the following data appears in your DC8-50F AIRCRAFT.CFG file ....
[exits] number_of_exits=2 exit_rate.0=0.8 ;Percent per second exit_rate.1=0.5 ;Percent per second
This data does appear on the CFG files because I've already checked.
I admit both myself & Camilo have recently sometimes found this door animation does sometimes function/non-function intermittently .... for reasons neither us can explain.
One time the cargo door animation functions fine .... then the next time not at all .... and much later on again it works fine again.
Whether or not that's caused by applying keyboard commands too rapidly/slowly .... I just don't know.
All I do know is these doors will function on the basis of the above commands if they're applied however correctly.

To help clarify the keyboard command sequence... While holding down the Shift key, press E, let go of both, and then press 1. While holding down the Shift key, press E, let go of both, and then press 2. The number 1 key should open the rear pax door on the JetTrader, and the number 2 key should open the main deck cargo door. I hope that helps. Dee

No need for the #1 unless you want the rear pax door to open. But that EXACT sequence DOES work. Now I can get this thing loaded/unloaded! We didn't have that sequence on the real ones!

" opens the radio rack" How can that be? The radio rack is in the cockpit behind the jumpseat.

Well.....OK, not the rack itself but the panel.
And, now, it does appear as though this door (Main Cargo) has a mind of it's own and doesn't always open on command. Guess that's alright as long as it doesn't open in flight!

Just remember, if it does come open, left hand turns only. That is an aircraft flight manual limitation. The DC-8 is one of the few aircraft that will fly with the cargo door all the way open. I've never experienced it, but I do know a couple of guys that have. They say it gets quite windy in the cockpit.
