Do you remember just when that was? Are you sure it was North Central, and are you sure it was a Fokker? ?

Actually....um, no. :-) I thought it was North Central...but I guess not. I do remember it was a Fokker F27, the one they called Friendship? What airline...I thought NC, but I guess not. I do remember being in NC, but I'm sure I've got the a/c mixed up for sure. Probably two different flights. What I do remember is I started collecting printed timetables back then as a kid. Got a 73 (?) timetable from NC, but will have to dig it up to confirm.

If it was an F-27, it was Air Wisconsin who later became a United "feeder". Not sure but it might have been "Fairchild" back then. Don't know when Fokker got into the act.

It could have also been a Dash 7 because Air Wisconsin. Also when Republic gave-up on some routes Simmons stepped in for a while with YS's.
Glad you liked the Convairs, I spent a lot of time throwing bags into them. Also since I was at KIWD, and a little while at KCWA I spent way too much time shoveling snow.

Probably right, skyking. I do remember quite a lot of old airlines now...MVA (Mississippi Valley) who had Shorts, Britt and their Metros, good ole Ozark, who had the F-27 as well. Ahhh, the good ole days...
But, just like music, movies, cars, etc... the more "modern" we get, the more uniform, look-a-like they get.
Sad, really. Even the way people dress to go on a flight today gets me ticked off. Used to be an event, now some people fly in what look like pajamas.
Rant over! ;D

qxductape -
Can't find 'KIWD'. KCWA wasn't too far north of KMSN, which used to be KTAX, which is where North Central started (as did I) out as Wisconsin Central. Again, thanks for your Convairs (paint jobs). Got a few hours in the real ones as well. And.....I know what shoveling snow is all about too!

KIWD is for Gogebic - Iron County Airport in Ironwood TWP Michigan. Right where "US Hwy 51 ends & fun begins" Actually it 's the most Western point in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on the border of Wisconsin, 100 miles East of Duluth MN.

Know just where it is. Have passed by there a few times (via auto) and will be doing so again this Summer. Is there any commercial air service there?

Seems to me North Central had service up there someplace at one time?? That is correct.... I grew-up on the farm just over the west fence of KIWD, and that is where I started my North Central career. It was simple because I had a real short commute to work, plus I used to hang around there all the time. My grade school was right at the corner of where you turn into the terminal, and our ball field was right next to the parking lot.

According to your sig...KPDX...you're quite a ways from "home" then. Bet you miss the area.
BTW.....I've been to KPDX too many times to count!! In fact, my last trip before retiring was through there.

Not quite sure if this is the right place, but another newbie, to this forum anyways. Long time simmer, slightly less time panel designer. Ex Sea Harrier engineer. Currently teaching aircraft engineering at a London University using a live Learjet 25. I love old jet/turboprop/prop aircraft, though mainly Brit stuff.
Oh! and hi Tony long time no hear. ;D

Yeah, Steve and I did your MD902 with you. Actually it was for FS2000. I've spent the last 3 or 4 years having a break as I got a bit fed up with it all. Not sure if my panels are up to the standard you have here, but I'm willing to have a go should anyone want any help. My old panels are getting an update, but they are mostly Brit airliners and light aircraft with some military, so don't quite fit in here.
