Ok guys I have had the pleasure of trying out Rick Pipers BAe748 or HS 748 as it originally was designated. Anyway this package is the best freeware civil aircraft I have ever seen, it would be worth buying its that good!! I would say I am not a VC lover but this one is stunning as are the animations likewise the panel and sounds are brilliant. Rick has been working on this aircraft for a while now and he has uploaded the base pack and two texture packs, many of the liveries by Garry Russell, so you can expect and will get Quality. ;D Rick does all this for free but is happy to accept donations, to be honest if this was sold by a payware company you would not regret paying $20 or more. It should be available at the usual flightsim download sites pretty soon or you can visit Rick's hanger and see his other stunning projects. If you have had Rick's aircraft in the past you won't be disapointed, if you never heard of Rick Piper then you have missed out..until now www.btinternet.com/~rick.piper/

it's a classic for sure. haven't tried it out yet,but i will tonight, as HS748 is like the YS-11 one of my favourite turboprops. knowing his Argosy and Chipmunk,it should be a winner. the dude's a genious, really,a genious. gonna tinker with that panel though...hmmm
cheers

"YES ABSOLUTELY" .... I fully endorse this product too.
This's one of those projects where all involved have taken their time to go about making the end resulkt as fine as FS will allow.
I might get Garry RUSSELL to stop by later and say a few more words about it.
He was very actively involved with the development of this project through all its various stages.
This' complete aircraft package has certainly got to be one of those"MUST HAVE FS packages.

Hi guys,
Yep I can highly recommend this model. It is easy and responsive to fly and a good rough fielder to use on short marginal strips.
I have had the pleasure of being able to paint some of the liveries and will continue to do so for a while yet.
It really is worth a try as something a little different and Rick Piper at his best.

I've been flying this plane around quite a bit since I downloaded it. I must say, it's absolutely superb! This one is definitely payware quality. I love the interactive checklists which display in the cockpit, instead of on the obtrusive kneeboard, are a gift from heaven! I hate having to switch back and forth, or move the kneeboard around to access the items. Whoever thought of putting them the way they are in this aircraft deserves a raise Also, the way the items check and uncheck as you perform the Action.. AWESOME. I love it. The panel is a pure work of art. All the gauges and dials work. And I love how the tips pop up to display the item, and the digital display of what the gauge is showing. All the gauges move smoothly, especially the engine gauges, which are eerily realistic in their motion! What I like is, there is no junk or clutter on this panel. Eye candy is to a minimum, and any that's there is functional. The sub panels are equally detailed and easily accessed with the icons at the bottom of the screen. I'm not a VC person. I never had much use for the things which always slowed my computer to a crawl. But I have to admit, I've been using the VC on this model quite a bit since I got it. Not only is it breathtaking, with it's detail, but it's functional AND easy on frame rates. I was at 19.9 fps without the VC, and 19.7 fps with it! The sim was smooth with it on, and the VC textures didn't take an hour to load like some others. The model itself is gorgeous. You couldn't ask for anything better. it's as enjoyable to fly inside, as it is to watch from the outside. The Textures are also a plus. No blurry or blotchy textures to be seen on these planes. Flying this plane is a dream. Hand flying is smooth and precise, and guess what! It flies by the published numbers! So there is no need to figure anything out. You read the manual and fly the plane. Simple as that! I read the manual, and flew an approach by hand, and touched down on the numbers, with the numbers provided. Like the real world Tristar, this plane is also " PFM" They have done a fantastic job on this plane, and I highly recommend it to everyone. You won't be disappointed. You have my word on it.

An excellent aeroplane, as are all produced by Rick Piper. My ageing PC has a little trouble running it - mainly textures not showing. I hope to be building a new PC in the near future.

Hi Gentlemen.... I, too, have tried Rick Piper's HS748 and it is excellent. I do have a question though and wonder if I have done something wrong in the installation? The way I see it the gear and struts have no textures. Has any one else noticed this. Regards too all... Roy Marsh

Hi Roy did you download and install all 3 parts ?. & you did the proper auto install and not a manual install ?. the only thing you can do wrong is try to install the files manually or not install all 3 packs. Can you post a screenshot of what your seeing untextured ? Regards Rick

Hi Kevin Sorry working through messages. the model is a very high poly count. I left out an awful amount of detail in the VC to make sure that the model is smooth on the widest range of PCs possible. I was very carefull with gauge use in the VC making sure that the minimum frame hit was seen. I actually have a full virtual Cabin made for the model but removed it as it kills too many frames. I will put that back if FSX is as good as they are Hyping it There are problems with some video cards that do not have at least 64 mb of memory or do not properly support DirectX 8 & 9. Geforce MX seem to have problems with the odd missing textures and some show blurred ground textures near the 748 at Dawn,Dusk & night. A few out of many thousands that downloaded the model have Soundblaster Audigy problems which cause a Blue screen. (substitute my Argosy sounds if you have this Problem). Another few have problems with FSUIPC.dll as they do not have it registered (Free key for Eric Marciano's Ai Radar (F16.gau) available on Pete Dowson's FSUIPC support forum.) but apart from that not many problems at all. Model appears fine for me in all time slots. P4 3.0 ghz 1 gb DDR 400 Ati Radeon X800 Pro 256 mb VIVO DDR (16 pipes enabled) Ati Catalyst 6.4 video driver Regards Rick

Hi Kevin
Can you post your PC spec here please.
then i can see what can be changes to improve framerates.
There is another folder inside the 748 folder with NoVC models & panel vies for those with slow PC's.
I didn't document it as we even got good frames on an athlon 1800 with 256 mb of memory.
Regards Rick

Hi Rick... I fixed the problem of no undercarriage textures by uninstalling and then reinstalling all 3 files per the directions. Initially I had done a manual installation and apparently goofed something up. I'm good to go now. I did get a screen shot. If it's of any value at this point I could send it to you. Otherwise, it is time to read the manual in detail. and then go flying... Thanks for the tips. Regards Roy
