I've just returned to FSX, and managed to get great frame rates and I'm ready to make the FS9 to FSX jump I've downloaded the 727-100 early/late and all works prefectly except the overhead panel view. On selecting the panel using the icon, no overhead appears and I get a straight up sky view. Selecting the overhead from the View menu dropdown, the panel appears, although I cannot remove the view using the X in the corner. FSX SP2 (Widescreen monitor used - maybe this is the problem?). The aircraft looks great in FSX, however I need to be careful with getting an overspeed - I've overstressed it 3 times already!! Thanks for your help

I've not seen any previous report regarding your Ovrhead Panel experience ! Are sure you´ve activated the PANEL_FSX_CFG .... by deleting the dafault FS2004 version .... then renaming the FSX version to read "PANEL.CFG" ? That's all I can suggest ! By default all our B727 panels, and aircraft base packs too, download ready to use with FS2004 CFG. The alternative FSX CFG data (also`provided wiuthin each file) must be renamed in each case .... see my "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" posting on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" page. Most of everything you need to know regarding these aircraft, and panels, and how to get the best out of them is covered within this service document. Whatever's not covered there is document is represented within the daownloadable panel manual. Beyond this I'd rather let Dan (our FSX representative) comment .... if he can. Regarding the following .... The best I can suggest is .... s----l----o----w d----o----w-----n aulde son ! ;D I have compiled basic flying guides (based largely on best FS performance rather than realworld data .... even though the figures are very close to reality) for each of our B727 class aircraft. You'll also find this information as an extended post on my "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" thread on the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" page. It's intended to help folk learn how to fly these aircraft better. Mark C BOG/CO

Thanks for that - modded both panel and aircraft cfgs before post. I'll try a couple of mods and see if I can fix. I did notice no other issues of this from anyone else. Ah well..c'est la vie.

Hello GGi:
I just tried the 727 late in FSX. Everything worked just fine. The overhead panel came up with the icon and cleared using the X.

Ok thanks for the usual fast support - a lot of payware companies could take note here!! It's good to know my problem is a 'one off' issue, so I now have somewhere to start from. I'm going to go over the install process yet again in case I've missed something. I'm not convinced this is the answer as everything else is visible and works fine. Most strange is that I can select the panel from the dropdown VIEW menu in FSX but not from the icon on the main panel - yet all other icons work... I've tried another download of the 727-100 early panel, but the result is the same. Now looking at anti-virus, Vista UAC, to see if something has been blocked. Will advise. Gary

Thanks for than feedback Herman ! On the basis of your experience and the fact this issue has never been previously reported .... then I guess we can assume there's no problem at all. I guess he might just have got his PANEL.CFG files mixed-up .... as I reasoned above ! Mark C BOG/CO

George - I believe you've hit the nail squarely on the head. I had commented out the native Cessna 172, as I use the Carenado instead. I'm away from home for a few days so can't try it out, but from what you say, it sounds likely this is the culprit. The fact that no-one else is affected would also fit. HJG thank you for your feedback - I can image it's difficult enough providing support for your own products, without needing to work out what individual users have modded on their own systems to trash things for you. Thanks again - great site!

Thanks for those kimnd and appreciated comments "GGI". You're quite correct .... in that it's sometimes not easy for us to "interpret" precisely what folk have done, but, we do "TRY" Thanks again ! Mark C BOG/CO

Just tried the 727 after reactivating the default C172 and....it works!!! Thanks for the help and George, well detected - obviously you have a good analytical approach to problem solving.

Good Morning all; I'm running FSX Accel on Vista64 and had the same exact issue. Clicking the icon gave me blue sky, while the overhead panel was selectable from the menu. I'm pretty experienced with FSX file structure and ruled out all the simple causes (wrong files/folders/config entries etc.). Turns out I had my default C172 disabled and in a different folder; moving it back to Simobjects>Airplanes solved the problem. Thanks! These aircraft are just fantastic, thank you so much for making them available for us! I really appreciate the attention to detail and realism in the different versions of aircraft that actually served. Needless to say, the liveries are superb. I'm starting with the 727-100 and working my way up from there. It's been a little tough getting used to flying with only a 2D panel (I started my virtual flying with FSX VC's) but getting better. My wife asked me whether or not I was aware of some current event, I replied something like: "In my world it's 1972..." Matt

Thanks for your input/feedback Matt ! That's actually a very good way to appreciate these aircraft .... as one then gets a very good impression of the performance variations between each of the different classes of B727 aircraft. "IF" it's of any help/interest .... To aid folks flying our B727's I've compiled "basic flying guides" for each type. This information is located on the end of my "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" posting which appears on the ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT forum page.Mark C BOG/CO

Mark -
I've definitely been using those guides, they are fantastic. It makes a huge difference to have a good set of "numbers" to fly by.
Thank you very much -
