I've decided to add the ground air cart simulation (as seen in the HJG DC-8 panel) to my 707 panel. The coding for this is now done, but the sounds are wrong - I would like the sound of the inverters to be removed. (707 inverters don't sound like DC-8 inverters, and I don't want them mixed in with the ground cart sounds because I want to control the sounds independently). I've tried to remove the inverter sound from the existing sound files, but they don't sound very good...
Could the person here who does sounds e-mail to GJCarty2002@yahoo.co.uk modified versions of these sounds?

A lot of people seem to dislike the "inverters.wav" sound on the dc-8s, but I don't think they realize the radio rack on that aircraft was actually on the back wall of the cockpit, so there was no getting away from the equipment, and that annoying buzzing just adds to the realism. The 707 on the other hand, had that stuff down below in the E&E compartment (like on the 727, 737) and so the cockpit had some isolation from those extra ambient sounds. Now, the humming heard over the intercom is normal, and anytime the cockpit or ground personnel have their "mic" button pressed, you will hear that background hum on the "listening" end, on the dc-8, 707 and the rest, up to the newer aircraft, like the 777 and Airbus aircraft as well.
I do believe since the "ground start" files were recorded on a real dc-8, that the inverter sound was not added, and was part of the original recording, so you may be out of luck going down that path.
I am almost positive that I saw an air cart sound file somewhere in the last couple weeks, so I'll look around and see if I can come up with something.

Of course, it's just that as a panel designer I dislike having the buzzing mixed in with other sounds, as opposed to being a separate file in its own right, which I can control.

It is especially irritating when you are trying to do a 707, which would be lacking the inverters droning in the cockpit altogether! Although there would be a hint of humming, the sound of "blowing air" from the avionics cooling fans overpowers most of the equipment sound from below decks on Boeing aircraft.

I've already let Benoit know of your request. I also have a couple of bits'n'pieces here that may be useful and which I'll send you. Chris .... if you have anything there you feel you might like to contribute then I invite you to do so .... please send anything directly to George at the address he's stipulated Hopefully that will provide a pool of potential resource for us to select from.
