9 base packs! OK, clearly not the FSFrance Concorde!
Were there 9 variants of the DC-10?

DC-10\L1011? Please forgive me.....but wide bodies are ugly. There I've said it. But as the old cliche goes "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" ;D ;D Herman

Herman, I mostly agree with you, with 2 exceptions:
The 747, Just because it was such a revolutionary idea,
and
the A340-600, but only because it reminds me of a stretch DC-8!

Jim

Please allow me to re-word my earlier comment about wide bodied airliners.
Personally, they just do not appeal to me and I have yet to fly any of them.

Not to worry Dan and Mark. Thanks to your highly motivated HJG production team there are plenty of HJG aircraft for me to enjoy and keep me happy during the festive season and far beyond. I always knew that at some point in time you would have to include some wide bodies and there are many folks out there who have been anxiously awaiting their arrival. The "team" has done a tremendous job again and with so many liveries to choose from. I will put a few L1011's in the hanger for possible future use.....maybe. ;D ;D To all, a very Merry Christmas and good health for 2011. Herman

Herman,
At the very least fly the Air Canada one once in awhile......
In real life, I've flown on Air Canada DC-8s, DC-9s, 727s, 767s, A320, A330, A340, numerous RJs, even a 747-400, but never managed a ride on an L-1011. I remember a school chum telling me he was going to fly on one back in the mid-70s. I'm still envious!
So now at least I can do it virtually...
Regards,
Jim

Living in my little corner of the world .... L1011's are/were few and far between .... simply because nobody providing long term/frequen schedulerd service here ever operated them It's not so well known .... but .... had the dice rolled the other way, during the very late 1960's /early 1970's, and had the then CEO of AIR NEW ZEALAND got his own way .... then AIR NEW ZEALAND would have become an L1011 rather than a DC10-30 operator. Maurrie DAVIS (then ANZ CEO) made no secret, at the time, of his favouring the L1011. The only L1011's we ever saw at NZAA (Auckland) .... and in New Zealand generally were those operating seasonal tourist charters .... airlines like ATA .... and .... a very short stint of scheduled service by HAWAIIAIN AIRLINES during late 1989 and early 1990 prior to their withdrawal from the NZ market. I was fortunhate enough to ride on an HA L1011 (N763BE .... an ex ANA bird) between Rarotongs/Cook Islands and Auckland during January 1990. The service I was on should, that day, have been operated by a DC8-62, or DC8-63, but, HA ended up getting 2 DC8's stuck in Guam on military charters .... and only had an L1011 was available to service that route. I wasn't complaing though ;D .... as much as I like the DC8's and would have liked to return home again aboard one The L1011, to me, was a nice aircraft to fly on .... with a cabin environment that was a bit more roomier than that the DC10 .... only by a matter of inches though .... but .... enough to make a difference. I/we hope there will be .... BUT .... that may be dependent on our getting assistance/co-operation from someone/somewhere else with GMAX modelling skills.
We are entertaining hope and looking at 1 possibility at the moment .... as may be evident on other pages of this forum.
