Hi All! I was wondering if the Mercure 100 ever crossed your minds! Or maybe this airplane has been such a failure to the point that even you guys at HJG don't want to have nothing to do with it... If I recall correctly, this french attempt at competing with the 737 was manufactured in the astonishing number of 10 examples... faster and larger than the 737-200, yet mounting the same engines, it appeared to be an excellent competitor if it was not for its ridiculously small range...

I very much doubt we'll be modelling it And that's not through not wanting to BTW .... but rather .... it's just a realistic reflection of the limits of our abilities in respect of model making/adjusting. There was a pretty good MERCURE made for FS2002 or FS2004 .... I can't remember which .... BUT .... I think, from memory, it was available at FS.COM. Just type "MERCURE" in the Search Box .... and see what comes up ! I suppose the MERCURE could be considered as the CV880/CV990 of the French civil aviation industry .... which really came of age with it's CARAVELLE success. It certainly suffered a number of performance defficiencies during its flight testing .... and although these were mostly resolved it was by no means a commercial success with only 10 aircraft ever being produced. It was, otherwise, apparently, quite a very well engineered aircraft. AIR INTER, the sole operator of the type, was apparently forced into operating these aircraft by the French government .... which had invested so much mobey in developing the project right from the very beginning. The airline operated all of these aircraft, and very successfully too, for many years. Mark C AKL/NZ

That looks to be a very nice model .... and panel.
The "REALIST" in me would very much like the AIR INTER liveries .... assuming all of these are represented !
FS FRANCE TEAM did a lot of very nice stuff for FS .... including the PROJECT MACH 2/CONCORDE .... which Pierre MARCHADIER authorised HJG to upload, but which, I've not, yet, been able to action due to the succession of projects we've uploaded over the past 2 years.
In fact 2 of the original FS FRANCE TEAM members are "HERE" working with HJG.

The Boeing 737-400 ahead of it's time and a bit underpowered
There were actually 12. The first prototype crashed and the second prototype eventually went to Air Inter to join the 10 production models
Despite their misgivings, the type served for many years. I don't think being too expensive to operate on was a hindrance. The Caravelle was by no means ideal on most of the Air France European routes but national pride meant the operated them with pride.
I never saw a single example until I went to Paris in 1989 and over two days saw eight of the eleven coming and going frequently at Orly, I new saw one again.

Isn't the MERCURE actually the sire of the ScareBus 320 line of places?

I thought the French government subsidized the higher operating costs?
