OK, what irritated me about your post (and I do understand you were trying to be humorous) was that we are trying to teach this guy something about real/actual flying skill (so he might enjoy flying the DC-8 sim model). But your humorous refutation of what is real/actual flight knowledge/skill (and you know this because it is in countless basic flight manual text books and taught in almost every PPL ground school) only served to muddy the water and confuse the issue. So I beg your pardon. I sometimes take this too seriously. Dee

"YES" there is .... but .... I'll get back to regarding these later on. MACH 0.85 is too fast for aby DC8 .... unless one's "HELL BENT" on going "BALLS TO THE WALL" ;D .... and especially for the power indications you're quoting having applied .... HOWEVER .... given the AIR.FILE disctrepencies which I've "contantly mentioned/hinted" at within my pevious postings on this particular thread "I'm not the least bit surprised" that you're seeing the performance, you say, you're observing, as well all of the problems you've encountered along with this too .... especially during descent. Anything from MACH 0.79 through MACH 0.82 is, probably, quite sufficient for DC8-50/60/70 SERIES aircraft .... at around FL310 .... and for FS power indications of around N2 90% (no N1 in the HJG main panels) is, roughly, what one should be seeing (if discrepencies didn't exist within the current/publicly available FDE) .... and what's been achieved through more recent, but yet unreleased, FDE editing. Again .... I'll get back to you .... later on Mark C AKL/NZ
