OK .... the C135's are Gary CARLSON's private little project. However he's been deployed since April .... and hopefully due back home soon. Last I spoke with Gary I know the "Rivet Joint" was "IS" being redone .... as are a number of other C135/B707 projects he has on the go. Queries regarding these models come up quite frequently, so, all I can really say is .... "sit tight and bear with us" until Gary's back and able to make a personal announcement. You interest is very much appreciated anyway Mark C AKL/NZ

;D Bloody Brilliant!!!! I'll be looking forward to seeing the "RJ" in the USAF Section. Oh and if possble mention to Gary that I'd love to see one of the "Cobra Ball" (RC-135S) variants in the near future (don't know why but I love the all black starboard wing).
Thanks again Mark, and if anybody wants to post information or questions on EC's and RC's I'd love to hear from them.

Just on the subject of C135's .... in particular those TF-33 fanjet powered examples. Yesterday I forgot to mention: Benoit PLAMONDON & myself are preparing to release brand new P&W TF-33 fanjet soundpacks .... both with and without reverse thrust. These engines, though very similar to civil P&W JT3D-3B and P&W JT3D-7 fanjet, have a slightly different tone .... which has all been faithfully duplicated into these soundpacks. These files will supersede our original TF-33 versions hosted on the CBF website. "MANY THANKS" for all your meticulous work on these Benoit .... they're "G-R-E-A-T" Mark C AKL/NZ

Ok, I've just gotten through test flying the FS'02 RC-135W in FS9. Here's my two cents on the aircraft. The engines are see through; the nacelles show up but the fan blades are transparent in spot mode, tower mode and in the aircraft selection page. In addition to this the landing gear struts are missing in the selection window as well. However they show up in spot and tower mode when flying. I haven't noticed weight problems with the aircraft but there are certian flight characteristics that I have noticed about the bird that just feel awkward. After flying the EC-135C the RC-135W has some serious issues with pitch and roll. The roll feels super sluggish under 400kts and the pitch is almost uncontrollable. Feels like a Cessna with a turbofan strapped to it. Over 400kts the you have to seriously manage pitch and roll because the bird will get away from you. Other than these little particular items it's still a great bird to have in your library. Oh and I almost forgot something, the spoilers only show up on the starboard wing and the texture detail doesn't match that of the EC-135 (hence why it is being redone for FS9). If someone could find a patch for these quirks in FS9 it would be really great. Other than that, I guess we're all gonna have to sit tight until HJG makes an official release.
*Thanks to Ragtop156 for the FS'02 files...

Here's some more on the FS'02 C-135's that Ragtop has provided for me. The NKC-135 flies like a dream in FS9. Ok, so again the nacelles show up and are completely hollow, but the spoiler's show up and so does the gear. I might have jumped the gun on the flight characteristics of the RC-135W because of the difference in engine selection. The EC-135C has TF-33's under her wings compared against the CFM's that are under the RC-135W. With the CFM's there is a huge change in performance which is why the roll seems heavier than usual and why pitch is a little hotter on the stick. So that's my fault. This really hit me when I was testing the NKC-135 when I noticed that she was a little more sluggish in pitch and roll than the EC-135. When I went to spot mode I noticed that she had the J-57's which accounts for its decreased performance; if you check out the C-135 Panel post in the General Board you'll find out exactly what I'm talking about. I also discovered that it was the textures that were making it look like the spoilers were only deploying on the starboard wing. The shadows aren't that great on FS'02 aircraft in FS9 and because of the partially grey/blue sides and wing on the aircraft the spoilers didn't show up, my bad. So really all I've got to complain about are the textures and the 'invisible' engines.

These are all known issues using the older version of B707/C135 in FS9. I understand new and fully FS9 comliant versions of these "may" be released soon. We no longer "actively" encourage or provide support for FS2002 base products of course Mark C AKL/NZ

Awesome, I'm practically jumping on my desk! ;D My last post was directed towards those who wish to fly the FS'02 birds in FS9 until the updated packages come out. Oh and be sure to thank the guys that posted the C-135 info in the C-135 Panel board. That info is top-notch; in particular the discussion about the J57, TF-33, and CFM engines.
