These are, possibly, some long overdue/awaited Japanese operated DC8´s for the HJG inventoty ....
JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS DC6-53 JA8008 (1980)
JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS DC6-61 JA8050 (1988)
JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS DC6-62 JA8031 (1984)
Sourcing references ("JAPAN ASIA" and "JAA" fuselage and wing titles/fonts) has been the primary set back .... until now
JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS (JAA) was a wholly owned subsidiary of the then state owned JAPAN AIR LINES (JAL) and which operated between 1975 and 2008.
The airline was established as the result of a compromise arrangement after the Republic of China raised objections in regard to JAL serving both Taiwan as well as China and threatened to deny the airline traffic rights to mainland Chinese ports.
BRITISH AIRWAYS. KLM ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES, QANTAS AIRWAYS, and SWISSAIR each found themselves in a similar situation as JAPAN AIRLINES in respect of their services to both Taiwan and mainland China also and which prompted these airlnes to similarly form separate Asian subsidiaries .... which resulted in the establishment of BRITISH ASIA AIRWAYS, KLM ASIA, AUSTRALIA ASIA AIRWAYS, and SWISSAIR ASIA (respectively in order to satisfy the Republic of China.
Even JAA´s HQ was, by necessity, established separately from that of JAL .... although the aircraft operated by JAA were JAL fleet members leased from the parent company and which were also separately branded.
JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS services commenced during 1975 and were, until the late 1980´s, operated by DC8-53, followed by DC8-61 and DC8-62 aircraft on the airlines services between Tokyo/Narita and Taoyuan/Taiwan, Kansai/Osaka and Taoyuan/Taiwan, and Chubu Centrai/Nagoya and Kaohsiung/Taiwan .... followed by Taipei/Okinawa, Taipei/Hong Kong, and Taipei/manila services also .... and which were later operated by JAA branded DC10-40, B747-300, and B767-300 aircraft also leased from JAL.
The operations of JAPAN ASIA AIRWAYS were discontinued from April 1st 2008 when JAPAN AIR LINES voluntarily liquidated its subsidiary as a cost saving measure and prompted by the 2007 Japan/Taiwan Air Transport Agreement which was intended to try and normalise air services between Japan, Taiwan, and the Republic of China.
These 3 JAA subjects are the result of "a real group effort" .... with thanks to Michael VERLIN for his original JAL DC8 base textures, and both Camilo LUENGAS and Tony MADGE for each of their JAA livery modificactions .... and with special thanks also to Benoit PLAMONDOn for sourcing suitable/useable "JAPAN ASIA" and "JAA" fonts with which to complete each of these 3 textures.
"THANKS" guys
