Anyone purchased and installed the FSX Steam? Just wondering how it is. Mike Hello Mike,
I downloaded FSX Steam Edition on my MacBook Pro 15 inch and I must say that Dovetail did a good job recompiling the sim and indeed works much better with modern hardware as the gameplay overall works much smoother. Despite that, I am planning to stay with FS2004 on my FX-8350 desktop which is now my main FS PC and I don't think I'll be going to FSX any time soon because I have made my FS2004 visuals mostly on par or better than FSX's in some instances, not to mention compatibility with some add-ons which work better in FS2004.
Hope you find this helpful!

I purchased it for the same price as Dan, but in US. Anyway, I loaded onto my old Vista OS, (now don't laugh and point fingers), parallel with my original FSX Acceleration. In some aspects it ran smoother, but not better. I have a high end GPU, and Steam default scenery was not the quality of my original. Can't figure out that. Also didn't run any more FPS which is around 50FPS with moderately high graphics settings, much addon scenery and AI files. HJG aircraft showed up in it just fine, but many other FS9 won't as they do under FSX Deluxe or Gold. So I simply can't see any gain from using it at this point, as many of my a/c won't show up there for some reason. I'm just relaying my opinion and how it ran on my machine. I'm sure there are gains with FSX Steam, but i didn't see any on my application. Falcon

I too have purchased the FSX SE version and found there are some likes and some things I wish they could have done better.
The Likes: Faster start up - graphics seem smoother on my system - compatability
Could be Better: Interfacing with flight controls and other plug ins.
I am curious to see if the major players of payware are going to adapt. One note of good was when Pete Dowson just came out before the new year with another update to FSUIPC. Really made a big difference for me when it came to switches in the cockpits to work.
So for now I have FSX-SE and P3D2.4 loaded. I have sent FSX Gold to the dust bin a few months ago.
