Anybody that has ever flown World Airways knows what a sardine in a can feels like.

"BEAUIFUL" work Peter ! You've put a lot of effort into these .... I know .... and it shows too. "WELL DONE" aulde son About the N139WA ID .... I was going to say GARUDA INDONESIA .... when I saw the blue tail, but, its history appears to have evolved as follows .... DC10-30 C/N # 46583 L/N # 292 F/F July 2nd 1979 Delivered to SWISSAIR (HB-IHI "Ticino") March 3rd 1980 .... and renamed "Thurgau" during December 1988. Sold to NORTHWEST AIRLINES (N226NW) February 27th 1992. Leased to ATA AIRLINES (N701TZ) January 27th 1992. Sold to WORLD AIRWAYS (N701TZ) August 8th 2008 .... and re-registered "N139WA" on November 3rd 2008 and converted to a DC10-30ER. Damaged beyond repair as the result of a hard landing at Baltamore Washington International Airport on May 6th 2009 .... probably one of the last/if not the last, ever incidents/accidents to a DC10 aircraft. TFT = 107,814 hours. Accident/Incident Report .... aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20090506-0 Do I win anything .... for accurate ID-ing and story telling ? Nark C AKL/NZ

AH WELL .... better than nothing aye Thanks for that though Peter .... BUT HONESTLY .... I just, quietly, go about my daily business here, doing what I think needs to be done .... in the hope that it might actually aid someone elses enjoyment of what we all try to do here. Sometimes I'm successful .... other times not so Mark C AKL/NZ

AH HA .... "the last" DC10 ever built Dc10-30 N117WA C/N # 48318 L/N # 446 F/F December 1988 Ordered by FED EX - but not taken up. Registered to to NIGERIA AIRWAYS (5N-AUI) - but not taken up. Delivered to NIGERIA AIRWAYS (N3024W) - July 25th 1989. Repossessed by JAPAN LEASING CORPORATION - December 17th 1993 .... and withdrawn from service and stored, Transferred to STAR & SUN LEASING INC - March 30th 1995. Leased to WORLD AIRWAYS (N3024W) - April 1st 1995. Sub leased to MALAYSIA AIRLINES (N3024W) May 1st 1995. Returned to WORLD AIRWAYS - June 1995 .... and re-registered "N117WA" - September 7th 1995. Sub leased to GARUDA INDONESIAN AIRWAyS (N117WA) - March 15th 1996. Returned to WORLD AIRWAYS May 1996. Returned to STAR & SUN LEASING INC - October 19th 19th 2001 .... and sold to AEROSPACE FINANCE LLC - October 19th 19th 2001 .... then re-registered "N117GB" - December 22nd 2001. Leased to WORLD AIRWAYS (N117GB) - November 14th 2002 .... and re-registered "N353WL" - February 27th 2003. Returned to AEROSPACE FINANCE LLC - October 2004. Sold to OMNI DC-10 LEASING LLC (N353WL) - November 3Oth 2004 .... and leased to OMNI AIR INTERNATIONAL - November 3Oth 2004 .... then re-registered "N270AX" - March 16th 2005. Withdrawn from service and stored at Tulsa international Airport, Oklahoma, USA - August 2011 .... possibly scrapped by now (?) Actually .... you've made a nice job of that final billboard livery too Peter. In fact it looks better than it seems to appear in most real world imagery I've seen of it. I must confess .... that livery, and the other white one which preceded (or followed it .... and which I shot, on one of their MD11 charters during the late 1990's, to AKL, during the late 1990's) were never my favorate WA liveriwes .... BUT .... you may have swayed me here Peter

AH HA .... "the last" DC10 ever built Dc10-30 N117WA C/N # 48318 L/N # 446 F/F December 1988 ---snip--- Withdrawn from service and stored at Tulsa international Airport, Oklahoma, USA - August 2011 .... possibly scrapped by now (?) Actually .... you've made a nice job of that final billboard livery too Peter. In fact it looks better than it seems to appear in most real world imagery I've seen of it. BUT .... you may have swayed me here Peter L/N 446 is not scrapped, still there apparently though missing engines so I've been informed by a local source. And I wish that 828 and friends was the "last" billboard, no there is another one... all red, from 1990, on N102UA. I find it to be fairly ugly myself... though not the worst World did... oh no, that would be LN-RKC. Font is weird, logo is off angle, and the red stripe with gaps galore in it. At least the flag is straight on it unlike N102UA. I know LN-RKC was a lease from SAS but they've done other leases even from SAS better looking by far... and where did the red stripe come in, not in the SAS colors either. The black globe isn't the last either, well not the all white with blue... theres the blue/red aft swoosh and white globe version... Like N137WA hereDon't expect that one soon though... it's the very last one on my list... which right now is 10 World DC-10s remaining... mostly the white n blue globe variations... and I might pop out a couple hybrids like Air Florida.

Excellent work Peter on these World Airways DC-10s and thank you! Also N113WA (World Airways flight 30) was destroyed in a landing accident when it overran the runway back in February 1982.
