Hello.
I'm hoping someone can answer a quick question for me regarding the use of the 727 panels in FSX.
The downloads page says they are meant for FS9 but should work in FSX. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed the case for the 727 panels? Does anything special need to be done?
If the answer is no, then I guess my next question is does anyone know what things DO need to be done for use in the TDS aircraft? Their info says certain things need to be transferred if the panel is changed but they don't say what those things are.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The panels .... like all HJG ponels (both those we've designed and built ourselves as well as those we host through negotiated "exclusive consent") are essentially for FS2004 use, but, most .... with the exception of those for the BAe 146/RJ-100, CARAVELLE, DC-10, and CONCORDE en particular .... may also be used in FSX. "FSX portable", but, "not" FSX native .... is perhaps the best/most honest way to market these panels. PLEASE NIOTE: We don't provide support for the TDS B727's .... even if used with our panels .... "at this pont of time". We offer our own B727-200 flightline .... which we feel's superior in a number of respects (albeit it's an earlier, but, further edited version of the same model .... eye candy being the prime difference between both) .... and one which, over the past 2 years, we've been slowly working to further expand .... as we continue do right at this very moment We're aware TDS recommend the use of HJG panels with their own B727-200's, but, having myself used both, I can assure folk there's "more" than they (and a certain associate or 2) seem to appreciate in order to ensure full compatibility of "our" HJG B727 panel series with their product .... and that's just being "BRUTALY HONEST" !!!! Sadly .... TDS never had the courtesy to cosult with HJG in regard to this .... and which is (possibly) a great pitty, for their sake, however, if they were to approach either Tony, or myself, in regard to this (WILKINSON and IGAMI-san only since we won't negotiate with any other TDS reprentation) .... THEN .... we could, possibly, make great things happen for everyone, but, that ball's entirely in their own court, but sadly, I very much doubt it'll ever happen. This oppinion may surprise some !!!! I would prefer the HJG aircraft as well. Does what you are saying mean the aircraft for FSX compatible as well? I believe I have tried both the aircraft and panel in the past in FSX but couldn't get things to work correctly. I don't remember the details though.

The same applies to all of our 3D models too (with the exception of just the BAe 146/RJ100 and CONCORDE in this particular case which won't run in FSX - period) in that these are all FSX "portable" too .... but .... "NOT" FSX native. A number of installtion issues can arise with FSX .... essentially because that particular FS version is much more procedure specific/sensitive than FS2004, requiring installation procedures to be "adhered to", and with little or no tolerance whatsoever in regard to any diversion from its installation procedure, but, those whom know what they're doing (in regard to FSX installation of HJG files) have, apparently, found their experiences with our files to be equally as enjoyable as that which can be had using our files in FS2004. People just have to know what they're doing and adhere to the procedures .... and we "DO" have people here whom like to try'n assist peoples enjoyment of what we do if they can help anyway To further assist .... Dan has also compiled 3X different, but, very successful procedues by which HJG files may be easily installed, and enjoyed, within FSX .... and which are permanantly pegged to this forum page. Well, I don't know who Dan is but I'm assuming you are talking about one of these?..... The easiest way at installing into FSX (IMHO One way of installing HJG aircraft in FSX Even a third way to do it
If so, which is the correct one?

They're "ALL" correct.
Each have been proven to work equally well (or we wouldn't post that information) and that's why that information is there (as 3 options) .... BUT AGAIN .... FSX is "procedure sensitive" (for want of another term), so, the installation procedures outlined "must be followed to the letter" or they simply won't/can't work.

I believe that all three methods work and can be used depending on your preference. As Mark has already mentioned all HJG B 727 Models and Panels can be ported over to FSX. Once that is done it is just a matter of following the instructions that accompany the Model and Panel. Also see the latest instructions from the Forum page dealing with "B 727 Panel Installation and Handling Notes".
What I generally do once all files are ported over to FSX is. Note that the installation of the texture should be done after the following steps are completed.
Make sure that the appropriate Panel is installed in the fsfsconv. folder and follow the instructions for converting and activating to FSX.
Open the HJG 727 Aircraft folder and follow the instructions to convert and activate the aircraft cfg. to FSX.
Open the Panel folder and alias to the panel that was installed into fsfsconv folder. ie. fsfsconv\panel.name of panel you installed.
Note sure if the HJG 727 sounds are compatible wit FSX so you can try it or substitude with a sound package that is compatible.

Just completed the HJG 727 Sound Package install into FSX and it works OK including Smoke effects.

I've been flying the 727's in FSX for years with the HJG panel, and have little or no problems. Just remember that you should load and fsx default aircraft first, and load it all the way, not just to the free flight point. Then load the 727 and enjoy. I love the new 200's. Falcon

"YES" .... and .... "NO" .... is the honest answer here The 3 current HJG hosted B727 soundpacks do work function in FSX, but, no to best effect .... simply because they were each compiled for FS2004 use. FSX, has a different and far superior audio engine than FS2004 .... and with a greater number of paramaters that may be exploited to produce greater audio integrety, so, whilst each of our 3 current compilations work fine/perfectly in FS2004, they still work in FSX too .... but less perfectly. Benoit is, as I reply to this thread, well advanced in regard to his development of new P&W JT8D SERIES soundpacks which have been customised for use with the HJG B727 series (each engin type for all aircraft versions) .... and which are "FAR SUPERIOR" to those we currntly offer, and which will also be both FS2004 and FSX compatible .... separate audio versions (by necessity) for each sim version. Here's some few early (but now superseded) examples of these .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4ZeLfkG1XIwww.youtube.com/watch?v=8GWm16VnOS0&list=PLTSY5-fFxYR9vc7THoPKsyoBlWZRsDXDw&index=3www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDZx4he0wzA&index=4&list=PLTSY5-fFxYR9vc7THoPKsyoBlWZRsDXDwwww.youtube.com/watch?v=lKtftcir4S0&list=PLTSY5-fFxYR9vc7THoPKsyoBlWZRsDXDw&index=6Other than the planned expansion of our B727 line which we've been working on these past 2/almost 3 years now .... there'll also be another B727 panel update too .... featuring further refinements .... in due course Mark C AKL/NZ

Who is Benoit and where can these files be found? You say they are better than what HJG has but provide no other info.

Benoit's a personal friend of mine .... a valued HJG staff member (since 2006) .... and "THE WORLDS BEST" FS audio compiler too .... "all rolled into one" As is apparent, within my last reply above, this "new B727" audio project in "IN PRODUCTIOM" at the moment and has yet to be released. The video previews of these new soundpacks (above) have been also superseded by now too, but, still give folk a clear impression as to where we headed audio-wise .... thanks to Benoit In the meantime .... and util these new sounpacks are released .... everyone will have to be content with the 3 P&W JT8D soundpacks we currently offer on our "BOEING SOUNDS" downloads page .... and which are quite good, but, FS2004 based. No further information regarding these, or any other HJG project either, will be provided .... until they are released. That is the way we work .... "HERE" at HJG For reasons already stated .... I consider the information provided to be quite satisfactory as well as sufficient Mark C AKL/NZ

Do all of the Boeing 727-200 (Advanced) repaints go with any of the base packs? The repaints don't specify which base pack to use for them.

I love the products HJG puts out, but this really should be easier to figure out. I don't ever remember your stuff being this confusing.
Why don't the repaints tell you? If not in the description of the download then at least in the download itself.
