Hi,
I've tried to install the MD-88 base file along with a repaint (Delta 2011) on FSX Steam and the aircraft refuses to show up in the aircraft selection page. I followed the installation steps, including getting rid of the FS2004 files and renaming the "_fsx" files. I've also checked that all the information under the [fltsim.xx] entry is correct. Any advice on what I can do?
I actually have the HJG 717 installed and it works perfectly so I'm not totally incapable of running HJG aircraft.

The groups FSX advisors are indisposed at this time I'm not FSX myself .... BUT .... can provide the following "limited" advice .... Check that the default PANEL and SOUND folders within your MD-88 base pack are correctly aliased to the deafult FSX default Panel and Sound alias assignments (by default these will reflect FS2004 Panel and Sound assignments) .... and which i believe, for FSX, are as follows .... [fltsim] alias=B737_800\panel [fltsim] alias=B737_800\sound FSX is muchmore installation procedures "sensitive" .... as you probably appreciate .... BUT .... the HJG MD-80/90 base packs, 3D models, FDE, and textures are all FSX "portable" .... however .... our MD-80/90 panel range "ARE NOT" , som, don't be tempte3d to try'n install these within FSX. An incorrect dfault Panel and/or Sound alias asdsignment are 1 of a number of factors that would result in an FSX "no show". Beyond the above advise .... and with the (seasonal) absence of our FSX advisors also .... I can only refer you to the 3 FSX specific installation tutorials provided on this forum page in order for you to cross-check what you've actually done Mark C AKL/NZ

USA113.....other then the advice already mentioned above by Mark, I do not have much more to add. As Mark mentioned the HJG MD-88 panel is not compatible with FSX, but if you are already using the B717 you should be able to use that panel or search flightsim.com for another suitable panel.
Also make sure that the "Directx10"forFSX graphics is checked "OFF".
Also make sure that the aircraft cfg and panel cfg are changed to reflect FSX before installing the "Texture" into the Base Pack.
Hope this helps.

"THANKS" for your input Herman Further to my own advice .... I've just downloaded the HJG MD-88 aircraft base pack .... had to in order to remind myself of it's content The default PANEL and SOUND folders included within this aircraft base pack each contain 2 CFG files .... 1 for FS2004 named PANEL and SOUND respectivively .... and the other for FSX named PANEL_FSX and SOUND_FSX respectively. "F" what I communicated above is the cause of your particular issue .... then .... for FSX use all you should need to do is delete the default FS2004 PANEL.CFG and SOUND.CFG files .... then .... rename both the PANEL_FSX and SOUND_FSX CFG files to read PANEL and SOUND (or PANEL.CFG and SOUND.CFG .... depending on file naming conventions as apply to your OS) in order to invoke the default FSX Panel and Sound assignments for these simulations .... and which will, hopefully, result in these simulations then being recognised by FS and displayed withi the MSFS Aircrft Selection Menu. Follow Hermans DIRECTX 10 advice also. Again .... all of the HJG MD80/90 basepacks, models, FDE, and textures "ARE" FSX "portable" .... but .... our MD80/90 panels "are not". Mark C AKL/NZ

Yes Mark, that is exactly the procedure that I use and it works quite well.
Just to add to this, the Base Pack also contains two Aircrcraft cfg's. One reads Aircraft.cfg and the other Aircraft__FSX.cfg. So here again the Aircraft.cfg should be deleted and the Aircraft _FSX.cfg must be changed to Aircraft.cfg, and again these actions should be completed before installing the Texture folder.
The other thing to keep in mind, that when installing an HJG aircraft that does not feature an FSX compatible panel, the Panel folder that comes with the Base Pack can also be deleted and then the FSX suitable panel can be copied and pasted right into the Aircraft Base Pack, and similarly with the Sound folder.
