If Your B727 Simulation Does Not Display - then "READ THIS" document ....
Nine out of ten times the reason why any HJG supplied simulation will not display in FS is due to simple installation errors .... usually in regard to CFG editing .... and mostly on the part of the end user (although we too have been known to make the odd mistake .... it can, and has, happened) .... or .... the end user has failed to follow, or has otherwise misunderstood, the recommeded/prescribed installation procedures.
When unzipping HJG supplied ZIP files "DO NOT" extract their contents directly into FS. Doing this is how valid folders can end up being installed within containing folders from their original ZIP files and how files can also end up being installed without their necessary supporting edits .... and which cannot then be recognized and displayed by FS. The recommended installation procedure is to extract the contents of all ZIP files into a temporary folder first .... THEN .... manually drag and drop each of the required folders and/or component files to their respective FS destination folders .... THEN .... carefully edit all CFG files with their required supporting data and "precisely in accordance with installation instructions" which accompany each HJG supplied file. It is when these "basic instructions" are circumvented (or misunderstood) that problems are usually experienced.
Installation procedures for most HJG files are quite straight-forward and simple (FSX is a bit more complex/sensitive though in this respect) and conform to long established and proven FS protocols.
Should your your HJG supplied B727 installation not display within the FS Aircraft Selection Menu then check each of the following details ....
1. In the case of Aircraft Base Pack installations .... have you installed the base pack correctly ?
- Make sure the required Aircraft Base Pack folder is not contained within the containing folder from its original ZIP file.
- Check that the PANEL.CFG data contained within the Panel folder reads correctly and in accordance with either the default FS panel assignment .... or the recommended custom panel assignment for each Aircraft Base Pack .... and also check that the recommended custom panel assignment has been correctly installed.
- Check that the SOUND.CFG data contained within the Sound folder reads correctly and in accordance with either the default FS sound assignment .... or that this particular folder has been replaced with the recommended custom soundpack for any particular Aircraft Base Pack.
2. In the case of texture installations .... have you installed the texture correctly ?
- Make sure the ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX data which accompanies each texture has been correctly copied and pasted to the AIRCRAFT.CFG folder contained within any Aircraft Base Pack
- Check that the FLTSIM.XX data line is correctly edited in order to read [fltsim.0] for the very first texture entry within any AIRCRAFT.CFG file .... and check that this particular data also reads in correct numerical order for every subsequent texture addition.
- Check that the first bracket of the FLTSIM.XX data line has not been accidentally cropped/lost during the copy & paste process.
- Check that the TITLE= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the basic Aircraft Base Pack folder aircraft type name .... followed also by the airline livery name and date for the texture subject being installed.
- Check that the SIM= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the AIR.FILE name contained within the Aircraft Base Pack into which the texture is being installed.
- Check that the MODEL= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the 3D model name option supplied within any Aircraft Base Pack folder.
PLEASE NOTE: Only one 3D model is provided within each HJG supplied B727-100 Aircraft Base Pack folder therefore the FLTSIM.XX/MODEL= data line, for each of these add-on texture subjects will/should, by default, read MODEL= .... specific 3D model folder names are "NOT" necessary in the case of all B727-100 texture subjects.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: Most B727-200 Aircraft Base Packs contain more than one 3D model .... therefore the name of at least one of these new folders "MUST" be stated in the FLTSIM.XX MODEL= data line for each of these add-on texture subjects (for reasons explained further below most, by default, "WILL NOT" appear named or "WILL" require renaming). PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: This particular detail is applicable to all HJG supplied B727-200 add-on texture subjects and aircraft base packs "ONLY". FS will not recognize and display any of these particular subjects if the FLTSIM.XX/MODEL= data line is not first correctly edited with the name of one of the current new 3D model folders .... see the "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION" section below for further clarification regarding this
- Check that the TEXTURE= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the actual texture folder name being installed within any Aircraft Base Pack.
- Check that the UI MANUFACTURER= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the aircraft manufacturer name only .... for all B727 texture subjects this should always read Boeing.
- Check that the UI TYPE= data line reads correctly and in accordance with basic aircraft type name only .... as is described within the TITLE= data line.
- Check that the UI VARIATION= data line reads correctly and in accordance with the airline livery name and date only .... as is also described within the TITLE= data line.
PLEASE NOTE: The slightest error in regard to any of the above information may be sufficient to cause FS to fail to recognise and display any Aircraft Base Pack, Panel, Sound, or Texture installation.
All HJG files are .... "by default" .... compiled for FS2004 installation and use.
All HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Pack, Panel, Sound, Texture, and Effects files "ARE" FSX portable, but, not FSX native .... with the exception of the FSX specific soundpack versions only.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: Separate FS2004 and FSX customised soundpacks are provided for use with all HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Packs.
- In the case of FSX only installations .... and only if "not" installing HJG supplied B727 panel options .... check that the default PANEL.CFG assignment reads as follows ....
[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\panel
- In the case of FSX only installations .... and only if "not" installing HJG supplied B727 soundpack options .... check that the default SOUND.CFG assignment reads as follows ....
[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\sound
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: HJG "does not officially" have an FSX representative. FSX support is therefore provided on the basis of HJG forum community assistance.
HJG can only provide support for those files which have been downloaded directly from this website. We cannot provide support for any files for HJG aircraft which have been obtained elsewhere.
Please check all of the above details carefully "prior to" asking questions.
When asking questions please always state "precisely" which Aircraft Base Pack, Panel, Sound, or Texture, file you are installing/using .... along with a "clear and precise" description of your particular issue.
For all other information concerning the HJG B727 simulations (project description and aircraft base pack/panel/sound/texture/effects compatibilities and assignments, engine startup and panel configuration tutorials, and basic flying guides etc) .... please refer to our following forum based online manual ....

"ADDITIONAL INFORMATION"
The following additional information applies to all current HJG supplied V2 B727-200 Aircraft Base Packs and texture subjects "ONLY".
PLEASE NOTE: This information "DOES NOT" apply to any of the current HJG supplied B727-100 Aircraft Base Pack or texture subjects .... at this stage.
"As is clearly stated" within the installation instructions accompanying each individual V2 B727-200 Aircraft Base Pack .... the name of a 3D model folder, corresponding with that of one of the new models now supplied within these base packs, "must" be manually edited into the MODEL= data line of the FLTSIM.XX data accompanying each B727-200 texture subject. FAILURE TO DO THIS CORRECTLY WILL ENSURE THAT FS IS UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE AND DISPLAY THE SELECTED MODEL/TEXTURE SUBJECT.
Each of the new B727-200 3D models, in each of the new HJG supplied V2 B727-200 Aircraft Base Packs, will support any HJG supplied B727-200 texture .... therefore .... any particular B727-200 texture may be used with any of these B727-200 models and base packs. The only imposition is the obligatory requirement to manually edit the FLTSIM.XX/MODEL= data line, for each add-on texture, with a particular new model folder name in order to ensure FS will recognize, and display, the selected subjects
If folk desire "authentic" base pack/model/texture configurations, but, are uncertain as to what particular B727-200 Aircraft Base Pack and 3D model option each HJG supplied B727-200 add-on texture subject should be applied to, then, this is "VERY EASILY" resolved .... "please refer to the following very simple 7-step instructions" ....
1. One first needs to decide which particular B727-200 texture/s one wishes to install (this is as simple as compiling a short handwritten written list) .... since this will then determine precisely which particular B727-200 aircraft base packs are required.
2. Upon deciding the above .... open the following "HJG B727 TEXTURE INVENTORY" ....
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/6297/vl-hjg-b727-texture-inventory
3. Scroll down to the B727-200 texture listings within the above-linked list.
4. Locate the particular B727-200 add-on texture subject/s of choice .... per aircraft version name, airline identity, livery date (and aircraft registration in some cases too) .... all of these subjects are listed individually, in alphabetic order, and in accordance with each B727-200 aircraft type version.
5. Note the recommended B727-200 Aircraft Base Pack/engine type and 3D model assigments "listed beside each individual airline texture subject" (once again doing this is as simple as adding this particular information to the above recommended handwritten list .... as one progresses).
6. Apply each add-on B727-200 texture subject to the recommended/listed aircraft engine type base pack (one at a time) .... THEN .... edit the recommended/listed 3D model name (also stated beside each airline texture subject) to the MODEL= data line of the FLTSIM.XX data which accompanies each texture folder ("precisely as is prescribed within the aircraft base pack installation instructions") .... and "SAVE THAT EDIT" .... then copy & paste, and save, the completed/updated FLTSIM.XX data to the CFG file contained within that particular aircraft base pack folder "as per any normal/standard HJG texture installation procedure".
7. Finally .... copy and paste the content of the "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" folder (these are "D" and "DL" named texture BMP files for forward fuselage airstairs and/or winglet detailing) into "each and every" individual B727-200 texture folder installed within a aircraft base pack .... "only if these particular BMP files are not already included with any particular texture folder".[/b]
PLEASE NOTE: The FLITSIM.XX data accompanying all HJG B727-200 add-on textures released "after" October 2015 will/should, by default, already feature the necessary MODEL= data line edits as well as D and DL texture BMP files .... but .... this should always be checked and corrrected anyway and as per as per the above Step 7.
WHY HAS THIS IMPOSITION OCCURRED ?
All original HJG supplied 3D B727-200 models were upgraded and replaced during October 2015. Due to the previous unavailability of model source code we "did not" anticipate it would ever be possible for us to do this .... hence allowances for potential future changes were never accomodated from the start. By necessity each of the new 3D B727-200 models are individually named and most HJG supplied V2 B727-200 Aircraft Base Packs now contain several different model options.
As these 3D model changes have occurred "long after" the B727-200 was first released at HJG .... and since HJG had, by this time, already accumulated a sizeable inventory of B727-200 add-on texture subjects .... it "IS NOT" practical for us download, edit, and then reupload the FLTSIM.XX data for every previously uploaded B727-200 texture subject in order to ensure a clean/less fuss installation. Kindly understand that HJG is little more than a small group of volunteer FS enthusiasts and we simply "DO NOT" have the necessary resources to fascillitate our being able to do so with relative ease. Therefore every person whom wishes to successfully partake of these particular simulations must now perform this "simple editing task" for themselves.
An imposition appreciably, but, a minor one only and which the above guidence "WILL" resolve completly .... PLEASE FOLLOW THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATIONS" .... and contact us should you need any help and we will gladly try to assist.
