"WELCOME" to our final website update for 2017 concluding another calendar year .... during which HJG´s released well over 300 new and upgraded files for everyone's "FREE" classic jetliner enjoyment in FS

We hope everyone´s enjoyed what we´ve delivered throughout this year as much as it´s pleased us to do so

It's customery for HJG to try'n conclude each year with a major website update composed of an abundance of new product .... or a new release .... or even surprise or two.

This year .... and as part of our Christmas website update .... we´ve great pleasure doing all 3 of the above and as follows ....

Thanks to the co-operation of Erick CANTU (whom provided us with the source code for a number of his original models) .... AND .... to the dedication and efforts of our very own Paul HAAK (our resident modeler among many other unsung talents), Mike MONCE (our resident FDE specialist), Benoit PLAMONDON (our resident audio specialist), and Tony MADGE (our principle graphics artist) .... we're pleased to be able to introduce the B737-300, B737-400, and B737-500 to HJG's virtual flightline.


BUT .... this news of great FS Christmas spirit and cheer doesn't end there ....


Thanks equally to the much appreciated efforts and co-operation of Mario NORIEGA .... we're also proud to introduce his AMD MERCURE 100 simulation .... or what might better be described as "The French B737" (given its significance/relationship to the main subject matter featured within of this website update) and which makes up the 2nd among these "Two Twin-Jet Treats".

These new B737 simulations are dedicated to the memory of HJG staff member John M.KEANE 1967-2012. RIP John .... "we will never forget you and your contributions to HJG".


The MERCURE is represented by the "one an only" version of this aircraft type ever produced by AVIONS MARCEL DASSAULT of France. Although only 12 airframes were ever produced it was a superbly engineered and very advanced aircraft "for its time". It was also capable of superior/faster performance than the B737-200 and DC-9-10/-30, but, severely payload/range restricted (very authentically represented with this superb new simulation) and became a commercial failure despite its technical triumph. The MERCURE first flew during 1971. It entered service with AIR INTER during 1974 .... and remained in service with the airline until 1995. During this time it built up an impressive service reputation despite the shortcomings of its range.

This's "A BRAND NEW NEVER PREVIOUSLY RELEASED" version of the MERCURE for FS.

This new simulation is actually "a stand-alone product" .... supplied as 2 separate FS004 and FSX specific versions .... although we're offering the texture component of this product as separate FS version specific downloads only in order to conserve file sizes.

Each of these 2 FS version specific base packs for the MERCURE are composed of the following features ....


- 3D model.
- 2D panel.
- VC panel.
- Authentic multi-mode MCP with A/L system and HUD feature.
- Customized panel gauges and authentic MERCURE avionics sounds.

"FAILURE TO OBSERVE AND FOLLOW EACH OF THE ABOVE ADVISORIES WILL ENSURE THIS SIMULATION DOESN'T WORK" .... so please .... save yourselves (and ourselves too) any potential agrivation by simply "following the instructions" as outlined by us

This MERCURE simulation is what may be regarded as "a pilots simulation". It's intended for advanced FS users, but, isn't difficult (at all) to learn. I learned it within the duration of a couple of hours .... and could fly it competently within a couple of days

As applies to anything that's new (or different) .... there "IS" a necessary learning curve to familiarize oneself with this MERCURE simulation, but, this's more than adequately aided by the extensive support documentation which accompanies this new product (some of the best we currently offer in fact) .... and which is further assisted by additional service notes posted on the HJG forum per our new "DASSAULT MERCURE SUPPORT" page. The time and effort required to learn this "superb new simulation" are more than adequately rewarded once it's been mastered .... because it's "AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT TO FLY".

The icing on the cake in regard to both of these these new HJG hosted simulations though is the "BRAND NEW AND EXTREMELY HIGH QUALITY" soundpacks for each .... customized by Benoit PLAMONDON and which are as follows ....


- B737-300 CFM-56-3B1 soundpack
- B737-400 CFM-56-3B2 soundpack
- B737-500 CFM-56-3B4 soundpack
- AMD MERCURE P&W JT8D-15 soundpack .... included within each FS version specific MERCURE aircraft base pack


Separate FS2004 and FSX versions of these soundpacks are provided. Each of the FSX specific audio versions exploits the potential of the superior sound engine provided within this FS particular FS platform .... with both quality and authenticity that must be heard to be believed (and as only Benoit's capable of producingS) .... in fact possibly the only missing ingredient is the smell of burned kerosene and the brush of associated warm jet blast air

Our new B737-300/400/500 project has taken precisely 12 months to develop .... and Mario's new MERCURE project has been under development for the past 2.5 years.

Within PP1 of our forum based online manual for the MERCURE .... the "do's" and "don'ts" are constantly (and intentionally) stressed. It's important these advisories are understood and practiced or this simulation "WILL NOT" work properly .... hence the repetition of some explanation.

Within PP4 of our forum based online manual for the MERCURE .... SECTION 4:03 and SECTION 4:03A (relating to "AP CLIMB - MANUAL MODE" and "AP CLIMB - IAS/MACH MODE" respectively) are virtually (and intentionally) almost identical .... "save for the differences that apply to each of these modes. Similar applies also in regard to SECTION 4:06 and SECTION 4:06A (relating to "AP APPROACH TO LANDING - ILS/GS MODE" and "AP APPROACH TO LANDING - ILS/GS AUTOLAND MODE" and for these same reasons.

PLEASE NOTE: This MERCURE simulation is supported by its own "dynamic" manual which is compiled into the main panel "CHECKLIST" and "KNEEBOARD" features accessed per the main panel. What a fantastic X-Mas present to us FS-pilots. I want to thank everybody who helped to pack it and offer it to us.

Also it's great to see a very rare European Jetliner of the 70s as freeware for FS9 and FSX.

PS: Now I have to dig myself through the 200+ pages long manual of the Mercure (lots to read and explore). If my memory is correct, the Mercure is the second HJG-bird with a VC (quite fitting that the other bird with VC is the Concorde, don't you think?)

"YES" .... there is a 200 PP real world manual supplied with the MERCURE .... BUT .... the best way to get to learn this superb new simulation is as follows :-

1. Refer to the kneeboard facility compiled into each FS version panel .... it provides decriptions in regard to "all" panel gauges/systems.

2. Use the equally checklist facility also compiled into each FS version panel .... it outlines all procedures step by step.

3. Also .... refer to the service notes (our own forum based online manual) for this MERCURE simulation and my own descriptions and tutorials outlined within this additional documentation.

4. There's also a quick start/"READY TO GO" auto-configuration tab compiled into the panel/s .... to aid those less procedurally inclined to get straight into the business of flying and without the complexities of authenticity being imposed upon them.

This MERCURE is a superb simulation. It is complex (at first) .... BUT .... it's by no means difficult and once mastered it's a pure pleasure to fly .... trust me .... because I've been flying it since September

We prefer all "technical commentary" to be expressed on the appropriate aircraft type support forum pages (we have just introduced a new "DASSUALT MERCURE" support page), but, thanks anyway Klaus for taking the time to thank this team .... and expressing your gratitude for their work.

Only issue i have is the 737-300 base pack 'isnt found on server'.

I generally just lurk around here but this update has brought me out of the woodworks to get my thumbs up of approval, I'm so glad there's now a very good 737 Classic with all this support. I feel like the 737 Classic is constantly overshadowed by the Original and NG variants and doesn't get nearly enough love. As for one thing I saw on the installation guide, it said HJG cannot provide a VC for the 737. Is this because Mr. Cantu doesn't have the time or energy to create one? If that is the case, then I completely understand and I wish him the best.
