Hello, folks
I'd like to say that I'm very impressed with the solid body of work I found here at HJG. The visual models are impressive and I'm quite blown away by the great job you folks are doing.
However.
I have a few questions/problems with your 707 series aircraft. For one, none of mine have external lights save for the blinking anti-collision lights! No landing lights, no taxi lights, no wingtip lights, nothing! This is a bit discouraging! I can't even see my aircraft at night! Also, you have "Effects" for download on your page, but I noticed that I wasn't seeing any after I installed them. Sure enough, I checked the aircraft.cfg, and there wasn't an effects entry! And your effects aren't labeled "engine smoke" or what have you so I can't do it myself. Can you offer any help there? Finally, the weight and balance is a bit off. On FS, it shows the Center of Gravity to be out past the nose. I've tried EVERYTHING while tinkering with the aircraft.cfg file, and I've tried several of the 707 models. (and are there plans for a 707 panel of the quality of the CV and DC-8 panels?)
Thanks for the outstanding work and I hope your support is just as good!

The HJG Group is currently integrating new 707 panels and flight dynamics into their 707 models, which should be coming in the next website update. The panels are by George Carty, and are definitely comparable to the HJG DC-8 panels.
Both panels and flight dynamics will be tailored for each 707 model/engine combination.
I don't know whether any changes are planned for effects, though, that hasn't been mentioned.
Personally, I can't wait to try them!
Regards,
Jim

Ah, very nice. I look forward to it.
Does anyone know how fix my lights and effects problem?

Hello Michael. I'm no techie, but until one comes along I can share my 707 experience with you. I have recently downloaded three of the 707 models and the effects file. I have checked the .cfg files on all of them and they all contain an effects and a lights section. Perhaps you should try downloading the base pack again. All my lights work just fine and I get the smoke effect by toggling the 'i' key. Also, I can confirm that the payload setup box shows the C of G right on the nose but it flies very well so I feel that the flight dynamics aren't too bad. We're all waiting for the new ones that will come with George Carty's panels. Regards, Ian. p.s. Very impressed by your userbar, Michael - so I've wasted the whole evening learning how to create one!

Folks .... all of the B707 AIRCRAFT.CFG files (all our models in fact) do have a section entitled "SMOKE SYSTEM".
So long as you've downloaded the "HJG SMOKE EFFECTS" for these aircraft and have them installed inside your FS9 "EFFECTS" folder, you should be seeing varying quantities of blackish exaust smoke upon depressing keyboard "I".
When the our new B707 panels are released you'll find these smoke effects work automaticly in the high thrust/power regime.
About the absence of lighting (in particular ground illumination by landing lights): This may be true of the B707-100 thru -200 and B720 models (it is a known oversight), but, the effects should be there and working with all our B707-300, -400, -700, & C135 series models .... so far as I'm aware.

Ok, I did not know about the pressing "I" thing in this case, but it does work. Thank you for the quick help.
However, the a/c in question is a 707-320B and a -320C. There are no external lights or ground illumination by landing lights. Anyway I can fix this?
Also, any idea when the 707 sounds will be released?

Go to the Links page, and go to classicbritishfiles.com. Their sound section has the latest and greatest sounds for the HJG jets.

Soon to be represented here too I don't know what's going on there because I'm sure I'm seeing this feature with my B707-320, -320B, -320C, -420, & -700 models. Again I'm sure it's only the earlier models that don't yet have these effects> I'll check again abnd see .... then update this once more only if necessary. Mark C AKL/NZ

What files and parts of the .cfg should be there in order for this to work? Perhaps I have some sort of freak error that pertains to only my computer.

I'll see if I can find out how to correct the CG indicator. When editing the FDEs I was worried about it myself, but I'm sure it was faulty on the original HJG FDEs too (I started with those, setting Vmo = 375 KIAS, then changing C_L to get the clean stall speed right, then changing the flap characteristics to get the other stall speeds right).

I assume we're talking about the lighting again here .... in particular ground illumination by landing lights.
If I remember correctly this was an oversight in the model. I prefer Gary CARLSON to look at this upon his return .... when he's ready to do so.
I just checked all my B707's this evening and can confirm night lighting on everything from the -320 thru -700 is OK.
It's just the -120 thrur -220 series and the -720's which appear to be lacking this feature .... and something we are aware of.
My checks were this evening were conducted using George CARTY's very soon to be released B707/720 panels.

Hi all I'm new on the forum and I can't find the possibility to add a new question, so I'm trying it this way. My question: how does one get the tail lighting (logo lighting) to work on the 707's? Have I overseen something during installation or is it that none of them have it? Any/all replies greatly appreciated.

Hi Martin
I can't say for certain here but tail logo lighting is usually apart of the texturing, not something you can switch on and off.

Hi Garry Thanks for your quick response. Does that mean they don't have it? Do you know of a way of adding tail logo lighting? I distinctly remember that 707 320's did have tail logo lighting. Is there a texture file somewhere one can download to fix this? Martin
