Just had a 737-400 out for a bit of a flight.
This aircraft is a joy and pleasure to fly in every way. It's flight characteristics (FDE) is what I would think the real 737-400 would fly and handle like.
Whoever designed\developed this Model has done a wonderful job, and of course all the various painters as well. Definatly Payware quality.
Presumably all the other new 737 classics would be very similar.
Cheers; Herman

It seems odd that any freeware developers could give a 737-400 a better FDE than the one from Microsoft themselves (who by definition knew more about FS2004 than anyone else).
Why would Microsoft give their default 737-400 a crappy FDE?

True George, to me it makes the default models feel like a rushed job.

Maybe it's just me, but I can usually find fault with almost any "out of the box" FDE. I cut my FDE teeth using the wisdom of Tom Goodrick, Ron Freimuth, and others within the FS community who based a lot of their work on actual engineering parameters. Surprisingly, despite its limitations, MSFS does a decent job of flight dynamic simulation. Maybe not as detailed as x-plane's approach, but still good. If one pays attention to actual real world details and incorporates them initially into the cfg and air file, then there's a good base. For example, using actual moments of inertia are critical to proper flight behavior. I use the calculation provided in Airplane Design, by J Roskam (ISBN 1-1884885-50-0). MS's default planes are definitely "thrown together". Unfortunately, I've also found many payware to be deficient also. Case in point: I just bought (heavily discounted ) a Beech Premier 1 that I had to spend about 3 days getting to fly properly and by the numbers. BTW, this was inspired by the discovery of a great set of videos if you want to waste some time watching cool aviation stuff www.youtube.com/user/gregminkMike
