I just loaded a saved flight from RJAA to PHNL on the 707. Now I am aware that when a saved flight is loaded, the INS just switches off and you basically have to align your new position in order to get it working, but make sure the plane doesn't move. My solution was to keep the plane in slew mode for a while so it doesn't move, enter the current position and then align the INS. After that, turn off slew mode. It worked a few times before, but now it no longer works... Is there a way around this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Hi 707guy, just trying to clarify your question, are you talking about loading a saved flight at the gate before the flight, or are you loading one that was saved mid flight?
Just trying to understand why you would want to go into slew mode.
Cheers,
Nathan

My understanding from past experience (and I need this to be verified) is that the gauge programing in our B707's doesn't like "SAVED FLIGHTS"..
I seem to recall (since 2006) that most of the very few issues that have ever been reported concerning these simulations all related to "SAVED FLIGHTD" and "ACCELERATED TIME" mode during flights,
This could be the underlying issue I this particular case,

Just trying to understand why you would want to go into slew mode. Cheers, Nathan Mid-flight. That's why I went into slew mode to ensure that the plane is stopped while still in the air so I can align the INS. It actually worked for me a few times.

Yeah, I think this could be pretty hit and miss as HJG aircraft aren’t designed to save the panel state. Not too sure how this could be implemented without totally rewriting the panels. Sorry, but I don’t think we can help with this one.
Nathan.

According to my own understanding .... Nathan's right Our B707/720/C-135 panels represent some of our own earliest gauges programming (from 2006) .... and which is "different" from that compiled into some of our other panels. I know (because it has been reported previously) that those panels don't like "SAVED FLIGHTS" or "FS SLEW MODE". As Nathan implies .... there's nothing we cab currently do to resolve this (minor) inconvenience short of a complete recompile .... but .... we're currently way to busy with other projects to consider it. I know my reply is late, but what I do to get around this problem is to pause the simulation and reinput the coordinates in the INS, then press the hidden rapid alignment in the MSU, wait till it is ready, then done.

The INS, in each of our panels equipped with it, can be programmed in advance"for up to 9 sectors only" (I think it is) .... as per that featured on early B747´s prior to the -400´s.
This INS, unlike that fitted to DC-10´s and L-1011´s (but not our own DC-10 and L-1011 panels as yet) "cannot" be pre-programmd with the entire route .... since the early INS´s upon which our version is based simply didn´t have this capacity.
In reality B707´s (and DC-8´s), of the 70´s and 80´s, were fitted with Dual Dopplar Navigation systems (not INS) .... and LORAN systems in the case of the CV-990´s, but, in our B707/720, CV-990, and DC-8 panels the HJG INS suffices for these and is provided for "general convenience".
I note what you´re saying, but, from what I´ve seen of our INS in use, on any number of occasions, there should be "no need" to pause FS and update anything .... except (perhaps) to update the INS/program another 9 sectors following the first 9 sectors having been successfully flown .... should that be required.
Our INS expert (Nathan) is out "killing fish" at the moment and is thus "unavailable", but, I hope he´ll be able catch up with this thread, and be able to comment (even to correct me if necessary) upon his return.

Back on board now with only one fish caught and released, thank god we had beer to take our mind off things. Transport fan, there is no need to realign the ins after the initial alignment is completed. Basically, when the aircraft has flown between two waypoints and on its way to the third, you just enter in the 10th waypoint in your flightplan into the now defunct 1st waypoint in the ins. When you fly between 3 and 4 you can then overwrite to 2nd position in the ins with the 11th waypoint in your flight plan and so on. After the ins has gone from 8 to 9, it will then go from 9 to the newly replaced 1 and go around again. A transatlantic flight can see you replacing the coordinates over and over again. I hope this has helped. Nathan p.s: No fish where harmed in the creation of this post

Otherwise there is no real need to pause the flight, as proven sereval times.

That could be your problem .... or at least part of it.
As has been mentioned already (and also stated number of times in the past too) .... we know that the HJG B707 panels do not seem like either saved flight scenarios or accelerated time mode.
Best not to apply either .... although I deferr entirely to both George´s and Nathn´s expertise in regard to this.

Sorry misunderstood what you where doing. Yes, the pause/re-input/fast alignment would be the best option as it resets everything to your new FS session Cheers, Nathan
