Best part is that Cathay themselves (via their Social Media Account) were the ones who brought this to light.

Looking at that CX image remimnds me of a couple of similar situations that occurred in "The Land/s Downunder" .... both Australia and New Zealand. Sometime during the early 80´s .... in Australia (probably SYD) .... an ANSETT AUSTRLALIA B727-200 came out of the hangar after being transitioned from the company´s earlier red/black liveery into their overall white scheme with the 6 shooting stars logo on the tail. The only problem was .... when the airlnes titles were applied to the aircrafts upper foward fuselage a spelling mistake was made .... and the name "ANSETT" ended up being spelt "ANNSETT". There was no time to re-do the work so the aircraft had to be pressed into service .... with this embarrassing error .... until the job could be recovened later in accordance with the aircrafts planned schedules. During the tough ecomomic times of the late 1980´s/early 1990´s in New Zealand .... AIR NEW ZEALAND announced its intention to not only withdraw its F-27 fleet, but, to also disband its domestic air freight subsidiary (and Chatham Island service provider) SAFE AIR .... as cost saving/cutting measures. Of course the flightline staff (engineers) at SAFE AIR were all made redundant through this decision. At the time SAFE AIR operated 2 AW-650 ARGOSSY 222 freighters .... one of which (ZK-SAE) had been damaged beyond economic repair as the result of a failed port main gear (a common ARGOSSY enfd of life failing) landing at Blenheim/Woodburne a few months previously (on April 1st 1990) .... and a replacement ARGOSSY was sourced from IPEC AVIATION in Australia (as ZK-ZAL) to fill in for this aircraft. After AIR NZ´s announmncement to disband SAFE AIR .... the atmosphere among the flight line engineers was "really toxic". "SAFE AIR CARGO" titles were ordered to be applied to the aircraft over its basic IPEC livery .... only the engineerrs had their say/last laugh in regard to their employment situation and parent company management when the night crew intentionally spelt the word "CARGO" as "CANGO" .... meaning .... SAFE AIR CAN GO .... or be dispensed with PHOTO: Aussie AirlinersBy the time management became aware of this it was too late. The aircraft was committed to it´s freight schedules and had to fly with this titled slant against AIR NZ management .... and for all to see. The engineers by this time didn´t give a toss/nuts .... they were all out of work anyway Mark C BOG/CO

But Cathay L-1011 is no fantasy, the airline did operate the type extensively. It's actually one of my favorite liveries on the TriStar.

"THAT" .... is a pet peeve of mine too .... and you wouldn´t believe how often it appeas even in commercial publications. For those whom don´t really understand what we´re on about here .... "QANTAS" is not a word .... so the letter "U" has no business being applied to the name. "QANTAS" is an acronym for .... "QUEENSLAND AND NORTHERN TERITORIES AERIAL SERVICE" .... which was founded during 1921, has traded under that same name since it´s birth, growing to become Australia´s nation airline .... and making it (along with both KLM ROYAL DUTCH AILINES and AVIANCA COLOMBIA) one of the worlds oldest airlines .... currently just 3 years shy of its 100TH anniversary Mark C

Yeah Doral, I was thinking of the misspelt version but using the old livery on the L1011. I still have fond memories of the 1970’s adds watching the L1011’s lifting off from Kai Tak
