Hi Mark: Thanks for thinking on me and my interest in "Soviet hardware". I had this beast in my hangar but decided to use it "canabalising" for "my" Tu-114. So I used the sound and some engine instruments. www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-aircrafts-40/tu-114-d-cuba-variatio-55176/zipAs the Tu-114 was always the non-uniformed sister of the "Bear" it was an idea which came very naturally. Here the Tu-114 taking off from the old Havanna Josi Marti Airport in the early still "cool" morning air: The Aeroflot captains always managed that challenge but were convinced that only with four engines working they could clear the rising terrain on both runway ends. After that they had to confront the hackling of USAF, therefore Tu-95s (with their anti-aircraft systems) were acompanying them very often. But the speed and acceleration of these turboprops baffeld the American pilots. So both sides were playing cat and mouse. Later on the flights were routine for both sides here the Tu-114 in its later paint climbing out over Cuba´s northern shoreline. So the main problem was to avoid the remaining thunderstorms.: Kind regards Walter Kind regards Walter

Those darn Bears used to fly out of Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam to do a recon pass on our ship (USS Midway),we would have to scramble fighters to escort the Bears. Daily Cold War cat and mouse games in the South China Sea. In fact, when our ship didn't carry the entire Airwing we would carry at least a handful of fighters onboard and they were referred to as a "Bear Package" used for the very purpose of escorting Bears.

It may not be the same package Walter.
There was an earlier version of it I know .... BUT .... this particular version was only released "yesterday" (as linked above) at FS.COM.
I don't know how it compares with the earlier/original version or if its even by the same author .... but .... I don't think it is.
Same guy (Peter MERCY) has, today, and also during the past few weeks too, released these other 2 intereting simulations at FS.COM also ....
1. FS2004 Douglas C133 Cargomaster
Name: mmc133b.zip Size: 99,241,304 Date: 01-13-2019
FS2004 Douglas C133 Cargomaster. Update to Tim Conrad's beautiful C133 VC and FDE. By Peter Mercy.
2. FS2004 Tu-16 Badger
Name: mmt16.zip Size: 19,074,130 Date: 12-29-2018
FS2004 Tu-16 Badger. The Tupolev Tu-16, NATO reporting name Badger, was a twin-engined jet strategic heavy bomber used by the Soviet Union. It has flown for more than 60 years, and the Chinese licence-built Xian H-6 remains in service with the People's Liberation Army Air Force. By Peter Mercy.
3. FS2004 Fairchild C82 Packet
Name: c_82_.zip Size: 31,230,328 Date: 12-22-2018
FS2004 Fairchild C82 Packet. The C-82 Packet is a twin-engined, twin-boom cargo aircraft designed and built by Fairchild Aircraft. It was used briefly by the United States Army Air Forces and the successor United States Air Force following World War II. The aircraft was named as a tribute to the packet boats that hauled mail, passengers and freight in Europe and its colonies, including North American rivers and canals, for most of the 18th and 19th centuries. By Peter Mercy.
He's other stuff too for FS2004 (and some for MS COMBAT FS .... Jeeze that one's getting a bit long I the tooth now) .... just search "Peter MERCY" at FS.COM.
I'm about to head out and haven't got time to present anything in regard to these .... and I doubt I'll be able to later either, but, it's all there as advised .... and for those interested.
Again .... I may be away for the next 48 hours or so now due to ongoing business commitments.

Back for a couple of days .... onlyGlad you're enjoying those Walter .... I thought you'd like them .... and are now glad I posted them for your attention That may, or may not, be the case, but, I do wish people would just "appreciate" what other FS authors often sacrifice 100's hours of their own personal time to produce and for "FREE" .... and just try to enjoy such productions without comparing them because they're often "incomparable". Accept it .... if one wishes to try it at all .... and appreciate it (if one can) for what it is and above all for the fact it's "FREEWARE" too .... and if one feels it's inferior to something else then just "SHUT UP" because apart from it possibly being someone else's/the creators pride'n'joy it hasn't cost one a cent to acquire in the first instance MRC BOG/CO

Hi friends: According to his profile at Flightsim.com Peter Mercy is a retired PIEDMONT pilot and seems he knows what he is doing for us flightsimers. So also thanks to him. Regarding the Tu-95: I for my preference I am more happy to play with civil airplanes and not with what I call "doomsday machines". The Tu-95 in real was designed as such a machine (like the B-52) and a specially equipped Tu-95 carried the most powerful nuclear device (the "Tzar-Bomb" in Russian lingo) ever built to its only one trial. The explosion was still more powerful than calculated and the Tu-95 and its crew survived by pure luck. The filming of the explosion was done by an accompanying Tu-16. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsar_Bombawww.youtube.com/watch?v=16cewjeqNdwKind regards Walter

I didn't miss it .... and I didn't reply, or even imply, "you" even said that. My primary point (other than simply appreciating things for what they are when they're free) was .... there's no point in comparing what's often "incomparable" We've had this discussion before (which you conceded to at that time) .... and I do get a bit tired of (apparently) having to repeat myself, so, let's leave it at that now please That certainly goes a long way toward explaining why they (I've only briefly flown his PACKET and TU-95 so far during what little time I've had to myself lately) fly so well Never had time (and probably won't now for a while) to image the others .... though I'd certainly like to. Understood mark. You have a much better memory than I do. Sometimes things said over text can come out sounding different to me
