In order to make an aircraft work in FSX:SE, I realized I needed to change the panel as (I'm assuming) the panel wasn't compatible with FSX:SE. This made me wonder, are there any B707 panel files that will work with SE? Also in general, how many of the files will actually work with the steam version?

I run FSX and when I had FSX SE I had no problem with the HJG B707panel. What is the problem? Falcon

The aircraft simple will not show up on FSX. I believed it to be the panel due to the fact that when I changed the panel, from a HJG panel to a DC-10 I already had in FSX, it appeared finally. Some aircraft still will not show up like the C-135 variants however i'm still messing around with them and using the tutorials that HJG posted on youtube.

The only files offered here that aren't FSX portable (note the term portable is used since nothing offered here is FSX native) are the following ....
- BAe 146 and ARJ (panels only)
- B737-300/400/500 (panel only)
- CARAVELLE (panels and sound packs) .... this "is not" an HJG project .... it is hosted consent only .... it is also understood these panels are FSX portable but we've not been cleared to market them as such, so, FSX support is not provided
B707/720 (sound packs only)
- CONCORDE (base pack, panel, and sound pack)
CV-880 and CV-990 (sound packs only)
- DC-9 (panels and sound pack only)
- MD-80/90 (panels and sound packs only)
NOTE RE PANELS .... each of the above panels and gauges files "CANNOT" be used in FSX.
NOTE RE SOUND PACKS .... each of the above sound packs "CAN" be used in FSX, but, "ARE NOT" compiled for optimum FSX audio playback quality .... all other sound packs are offered as separate FS2004 and FSX native files.
"ALL" other other HJG offered files not mentioned herein "ARE" FSX portable.

The installation routine for add-on files in FSX is "sensitive" .... the slightest error will result in an FS "no show". It is recommended that the FSX installation tutorials "on this forum" be studied .... there are 3 options and all of them "do" work provided ther are correctly implemented .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/2081/easiest-installing-fsx-imhotonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/1662/installing-hjg-aircraft-fsxtonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/3033/thirdAll instructions must be followed "precisely". A detail commonly overlooked when installing HJG base packs in FSX is that the PANEL.CFG and SOUND.CFG files which accompany each file feature default FS2004 B737-400 PANEL and SOUND assignments .... whereas for FSX these statements need to be edited to read B737-800 if custom panel and audio options are not being used .... [fltsim] alias=B737_800\panel
[fltsim] alias=B737_800\soundFailure to ensure this will cause the installed files to not be recognized and displayed by FSX Again .... "ALL" HJG offerings .... with the exception of the abovementioned files only .... "ARE" FSX portable and "DO" work fine in FSX .... "provided they are properly/correctly installed". Mark C BOG/CO

Hi Andrew, I use FSX-SE and don't have any problems so there must be something slightly amiss.
Can you take me through exactly what you do when you are adding the aircraft to FSX-SE?
Cheers and will get this working for you but just need more info,
Nathan

Had a similar problem some time ago when I switched from FSX to FSX-Steam. The 707's showed up on the selection menu, but when I tried to load the aircraft I had a CTD.
After some research I found that the gauge "707-120.gau",I believe it was, seamed to be the culprit.
I found a FSX compatible 707 panel at flightsim.com that worked quite well.(707-420-fsx.zip)
Still don't undestand why this gauge\panel was causing the problem for me and not for Falcon and Nathan unless it is a difference in our OS's. I use Windows 10 now and used Vista for FSX previously.

"So far as I'm aware" .... there's no issue/s with any of the B707 gauges .... or any other panel gauges suite we offer for any of our simulations either.
I recall your comment/observation at that time (which I think also revolved around the B707-700 .... only at that particular time the B707 gauges suite in use hadn't been updated since approximately 2008 .... simply because there was no need to do so.
The current B707 gauges suite (V1.6) was uploaded during December, but, the only change to it .... "so far as I've been advised" .... was a modification applied to further perfect functionality of the WX Radar feature .... but .... nothing else was applied.
Whilst the majority of my own commentary revolves around FS2004 .... there's, once again, no known issues concerning the B707 gauges suite, or any other, gauges suite in FSX (if there was then we'd say so and the file would be withdrawn and/or fixed and a replacement version offered .... since we're quite pedantic in this regard), but at the same and having stated this, due to huge variations in system configurations and components such as are available today .... not to mention other FS utilities which can interfere (again on some systems only it seems) with what we or anyone else offer, we can't guarantee all of our files will perform faultlessly within each version of M$ FS .... and we do warn in regarding ro this in our manuals since there have been reports (unrelated to this discussion though) of "no issues" at all in either M$ FS version .... versus reports of issues in FSX SE but not encountered in the other FSX version and cases where issues aren't encountered in the other FSX version but experienced in FSX SE. There's no one common denominator among these cases .... it seems ... .and which makes our finer analysis of such situations "difficult".

The DC-9 has about 5 .gau files that will not work. Unfortunately they are the one that control the throttles and APU at least. OH well, time to reinstall FS9!

There's no issues with any of our DC-9 panels/gauges in FS9 (which is the FS platform they're compiled for as these panel won't work in FSX) .... provided they're installed correctly to begin with.
In fact I was using our DC-9 simulations (with our panels) 2 evenings ago in order to produce imagery for a recently made presentation on our forum .... and "NO ISSUES" whatsoever were encountered by me (even though it's been a while since I last used these simulations) .... and "NONE" have been reported by anyone else either that I'm ware of.
You may need to review your DC-9 panel installation procedure to ensure you have all gauges and modules files installed correctly.
In short .... ensure the FSSOUND.DLL file is installed inside the FS9 MODULES and not the FS9 GAUGES folder and the OLDMODULRES/FSSOUND.DLL edit has also been correctly applied to the FS9.CFG too .... all as per our recommended installation procedures .... since these are details a number of people have got wrong in the past and which "will" result in gauges related error/compatibility warning messages when the DC-9's are loaded into FS, but, if everything's installed and configured correctly then this simply doesn't happen and everything then performs fine.
