Hi friends: Since last year the biggest and now oldest Mexican air-carrier is in financial troubles, trying to restructure under the US law "CHAPTER 11". DELTA holds nearly the half of AeroMexico shares and is willing to help AeroMexico to survive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerom%C3%A9xicoBut additional problems came as the FAA lowered the safety index for Mexico from one to two, which means e.g. that Delta cannot offer co-shared flights with AeroMexico. With the downgrade, Mexico is now in Category 2 alongside Bangladesh, CuraƧao, Ghana, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Venezuela and a coalition of states in the Caribbean that share an aviation authority.

Could create also problems for DELTA. Everything is still more complicated as the actual government of Mexico is more nationalistic than the former one disliking the "Gringo-involvement" from the other side of the Rio Bravo (Rio Grande called in the USA) but neither liking Government Bailouts for the Airlines like in USA or Europe. A picture from better times. Kind regards Walter
