We're complementing the HJG hosted DMFS flight line with the following new aircraft subjects .... expansions to the original DMFS theme.
HS121 TRIDENT 1C
This represents the first "production and service entry" version of the TRIDENT .... not to be confused with the original/earlier TRIDENT 1 and which was "slightly different" prior to being modified for service entry.
PLEASE NOTE: This's a "NEW" base pack. It's a manual install only and which is composed of 5 textures (each of the above), Panel and Sound folders (aliased to the standard DFFS Shared Files assignments), and customized FDE.
TRIDENT 1C was less powerful than either the later -1E and -2E .... and subject to a bit more drag too with its unmodified wing tips. Although this base pack uses the DMFS TRIDENT 2E model .... its supporting FDE "IS" compiled in accordance with TRIDENT 1C specifications (in so far as FS will permit) .... and as such one will discover, to some extent, why some BEA pilots regarded this aircraft as being "a ground gripper". Making the mistake of trying to fly it like one should fly the -2E (provided one flies properly/sensibly of course), and at/near MGW too, will "absolutely guarantee" one gets into trouble real quick (but .... it's "FUN" if not a challenge too) .... SO ..... refer to the "TRIDENT FLYING GUIDE" located within "SECTION 6" of our forum based online manual for the DMFS HS 121 TRIDENT simulations, and load, and then fly this simulation as recommended
HS121 TRIDENT 1E
This represents the 2nd production version of the TRIDENT .... again different from the preceding -1C and following -2E counterparts.
PLEASE NOTE: This's another "NEW" base pack. It too is a manual install only and which is composed of 4 textures (each of the above), Panel and Sound folders (aliased to the standard DFFS Shared Files assignments), and customized FDE.
TRIDENT 1E was heavier and more powerful than the preceding -1C .... and although it featured a very small increase in wing span (can't give that you I'm sorry, but, the increased span is so small it barely matters let alone being noticeable anyway), it was still subject to the drag encumbrance of its unmodified wing tips. Although this base pack also uses the DMFS TRIDENT 2E model .... its supporting FDE "IS" also compiled in accordance with TRIDENT 1E specifications (again in so far as FS will easily permit) .... and as such one will discover it performs a bit better than the -1C .... BUT AGAIN ..... reference to the "TRIDENT FLYING GUIDE" located within "SECTION 6" of our forum based online manual for the DMFS HS 121 TRIDENT's is recommended.
HSD121 TRIDENT SUPER 3B
This's "a rare one". I did it "for the sheer hell of it" really .... in as much as for experimental reasons too and it was a hell of a thing to try'n get right, but, I got there This one's rare because only 2 TRIDENT SUPER 3B's were ever produced .... both going to CAAC.
PLEASE NOTE: This one's another "NEW" base pack also .... and another manual install too .... and which is composed of 1 texture only (as above .... different from the CAAC texture accompanying the DMFS standard -3B base pack though), Panel and Sound folders (aliased to the standard DFFS Shared Files assignments), and customized FDE.
TRIDENT SUPER 3B represents "the heaviest" version of the TRIDENT series. In fact it's quite a bit heavier than the standard TRIDENT 3B. The SUPER 3B had capacity for an additional 380 gallons of fuel and was certified for a MGW weight of up to 159,000 LBS. This one features the extended TRIDENT -2E and -3B wing span with it modified reduced drag tips. This base pack also uses the DMFS TRIDENT 3B model .... so .... the wing on this model "IS" correct. Its supporting FDE "IS" compiled in accordance with TRIDENT SUPER 3B specifications (once again in so far as FS will easily permit). Being "heavier" this one performs slightly differently from the standard -3B .... SO AGAIN .... reference to the "TRIDENT FLYING GUIDE" located within "SECTION 6" of our forum based online manual for the DMFS HS 121 TRIDENT's is recommended, since that reference data "IS" all compiled on the basis of months of testing and "IS" there to help you "get the best out of each simulation".
SUPER VC10 1154 (combi)
And finally .... among VC10's is another "rare one" .... which again I did "for the sheer hell of it". Only 5 SUPER VC10 1154's were ever produced .... each being convertibles fitted with a port side, forward fuselage, main deck cargo door, to facilitate either PAX, cargo, or combi type operations. All 5 aircraft produced went to EAA.
PLEASE NOTE: This too is another "NEW" base pack .... as well as being another manual install as well .... and which is composed of 1 texture only (as above .... also different from the EAA texture which accompanies the DMFS SUPER VC10 1151 base pack), Panel and Sound folders (aliased to the standard DFFS Shared Files assignments), and customized FDE.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: The cargo door on this model (and the DMFS STANDARD VC10 1103 combi model too) "IS NOT" animated .... and never has been
Its supporting FDE "IS" also compiled in accordance with SUPER VC10 1154 specifications. Being "heavier" this one performs only slightly differently from the SUPER VC10 1151, but, it's historic, worthy of representation, and is "HERE" now, so, make good use of it .... aided by reference to the "VC10 FLYING GUIDE" located within "SECTION 6" of our forum based online manual for the DMFS VC10's .... and which "IS", once again, recommended.
There won't be any further extensions to the DMFS flight line .... in terns of additional base packs I mean. It's simply not necessary (though FDE fine tuning will be considered where deemed necessary in order improve things and/or otherwise emphasize difference between aircraft versions and their performances). What we have here now is quite adequate. Whilst the specifications for other sub variants of some of these aircraft do differ .... there's not enough differences between them to justify any further representation .... in respect of what FS can meaningfully replicate at least.
I'd like to thank Erik INGRAM, Mike MONCE, and Benoit PLAMONDON for the assistance each have provided in regard to these expansion projects .... and without who's support and encouragement these Great British Expansions, for the HJG-hosted DMFS flight line, might never have come into fruition
