Nothing like a bit of insulation in bitterly cold virtual high altitude temperatures SERIOUSLY THOUGH .... We were looking at the possibility of treating the textured wool tufting so it reflected to the extent of appearing to waver, but, not sure how successful such has been .... it was "just an idea" at the time. With all the excitement around the newly-updated DC-8s, I didn't want to miss out on the action! Here are a couple of lesser-known Delta birds to start off: N1300L, 1969. Originally the -61s were delivered with full-span "Delta Air Lines" titles (as were all other newly-delivered aircraft of the time), but sometime around 1969 the decision was made to shorten these to simply "Delta," while also enlarging them. Most planes were given a full repaint as part of this, but some, including this one, kept the titles in the original style with the "Air Lines" part painted over. It looks a fair bit more awkward on the right side as the remaining "Delta" is located pretty far aft. These were very short-lived, and got the full repaint shortly after. N1306L, 1976. One of very few DC-8s to get the bicentennial Widget logo.

Ahhh, right up my alley Erik! Very nice work. The older “thinner” font never appealed to me, but what is always very interesting is the variation which took place in the 60’s and 70’s as liveries changed or were updated frequently. Excellent job!!!!

Thanks Jim! I've always appreciated all the minor variations on schemes that sort of cause you to think that there's something a little off. Not to give too much away, but I'm coming to discover that United seemed to be the kings of this during the '70s! In the meantime, here's one of the few remaining DC-8s that's still going strong in 2022- OB-2158-P of Peru's Skybus Jet Cargo. Recently it's been flying on a contract for AmeriJet as they build up their 757 fleet, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

That's "NOT" the case though Whilst the liveries are similar these textures are for "other" versions of BAC ONE ELEVEN 3D models produced by DM and for which BA liveries "have not" previously been offered .... and some of which also include additional BA affiliate branding. Still "MUCH MORE" to present .... as both time and personal circumstances conspire to promote my being able to do so .... "THANKS AGAIN" Erik Mark C AKL/NZ

Still got "A LOT" to present, but, this's a special one from 1999 .... BRITISH AIRWAYS B737-436 G-BVNM (1999) - British Legion Of Honor - "Pause To Remember" hybrid liveryDuring 1999 This particular BA B734 supported the "ROYAL LEGION OF HONOR - PAUSE TO REMEMBER" logo and branding as BA's Remembrance Day salute to the fallen during both WW1 and WW2. During past years a BA B737-200 and a few of the airlines B757-200's have supported variations of this same theme. "NICE ONE" Erik .... and "THANK" yet again Mark C AKL/NZ

A few more that I've been sitting on while working on other projects, but they're ready to see the light of day! First up is a trio of British DC-10s representing the early '80s. After Laker Airways folded in February 1982, British Caledonian decided to try to fill the rather large gap left in the charter market. Two ex-Laker DC-10-10s were quickly purchased, and initially painted in the standard BCal livery. This caused some issues because existing customers were used to BCal's relatively high standard of service on their regularly-scheduled flights, and were disappointed by the more spartan offerings of the charter services. As an attempt at differentiating between the two and managing expectations, additional "Charter" titles were added, later followed by even more condensed "BCA Charter" ones around 1985. Ultimately it was decided to rebrand the whole operation as Cal Air International, which later became Novair International in 1988. This stemmed from British Airways' purchase of BCal that year, as BA had no interest in Cal Air (having already rebranded British Airtours as Caledonian Airways), so it was spun off and survived until 1990. Then for something completely different, we have N774AS of Alaska Airlines circa 2004, in the "alaskaair.com" livery. The design was also painted on an -800 from 2005 to 2013.
