Foolin' around with adding some photo real.....figuring out the wrapping/orientation, think this is WAY better than the strut textures we have now, and a big improvement to the other ones I previewed

Looks "GOOD" and "A CONSIDERABLE" improvement to me Jim Beats the hell out of the old/original basically un-detailed gear legs. It's a lot of little details like this that all combine .... to make everything far better than has been the case previously. Mark C AKL/NZ

Looks much much better. Wish more details like this could be done across all paints. Sometimes the texture details make the difference between a good model and a great one

I might fool around with some of the other little details on other models at some point. That one strut bitmap is used by ALL DC-8 models.

So do I too, but, the reality is we currently offer in excess of 400 DC-8 textures.
We "can" apply full upgrades to a number of these textures (in fact that's precisely what some of the guys are doing at the moment in regard to "their own" previously released work .... as is evidenced by Jim's presentations), but, there's no way in hell we can upgrade "everything" .... at least not within the estimated period of my own remaining longevity.
Each re-released "V6" DC-8 aircraft base pack will contain an "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" folder .... containing new BMP's required to detail parts of these new models and which must be added to "each and every" DC-8 texture (currently installed or downloaded and then installed .... more on this much later). What I could possibly do .... "with Jim's consent" .... is add his universally applicable BMP's to each "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES" component .... so when these are applied parts of each DC-8 texture (those textures not completely redone) would then be "up-detailed" to the very same standard and which "WILL" have a very positive effect.

Will there be an update to those textures for the Douglas DC-8? It looks interesting

The earlier communicated STRUT BMP edit was a "personal" edit and not intended as a general one.
It wasn't possible to include this modified texture BMP within the ADDITIONAL TEXTURES folder when the V6.0 (now V6.1) DC-8 models were released last December. This BMP modification wasn't available at that time .... the artist concerned had, and continues to have, "far greater priorities than FS".
My comments within this thread (of SEP 7) were "a suggestion" at that time and remain applicable.
What, if anything, can now be done (since the ADDITIONAL TEXTURES data is already a component of each of the new and released DC-8 base packs) remains to be seen and will be decided when, and if, this BMP is later received.
Other than this it's up to individual artists to detail texture BMP's "as they please".

I will be slowly feeding my updated textures here soon. As they become available once received/collated/uploaded here, these textures will be in all of my liveries. The common bitmaps can be easily copied and pasted into any of the DC-8 models texture folders currently available and used this way. It will likely be far too big a chore given all the other things going on, to modify all the available textures offered here. Simply dropping this bitmap into any of the DC-8 texture folders and over writing the existing bitmap will be a simple and easy task for anyone wishing to use them. I'd suggest thats the best way to handle it. Expect to see my textures arriving sometime in the next few updates as I get to that very soon.

That's "precisely" what I was intending to do/recommend Jim .... when the time comes.
I just didn't want to (appear to) be hurrying or otherwise imposing expectations upon you.
When the time comes though I "DO" have an idea to (easily) aid peoples access to the like of specific common parts/BMP's .... but I'll explain that "later on/at that time"

Textures are on the way to HJG! Most all of my new ones, once uploaded, will have the strut bitmaps included. Just copy and paste them overwriting the existing bitmaps and you will be able to enjoy this slightly enhanced detail.

Jim's made "A BLOODY NICE JOB" of these new and replacement textures folk.
What I could do Jim .... and may in fact do (when I get time to do so) .... is provide your new "STRUT BMP" as a patch upgrade (with instructions) per a download link for it and for the benefit of all whom desire to access and employ it.
