I don't remember the CARAVELLE's being especially noisy .... in P&W JT8D-7 form .... same series of engines that power both the B727-100/200 and B737-100/200. I was "up close and personal" with them at AKL during the late 80's/early 1990's .... in AIR CALEDONIE INTERNATIONAL 10R/10B3 form .... PHOTO:Mark CRANSTON .... and again in Colombia, in LAS form (subject of the first video link), during January 2001. In fact they/LAS even managed to prang one of the 2 they operated, at Yopal, whilst I was there .... ACCIDENT REPORT: CARAVELLE 10R/HK-3932X/LINEAS AEREAS SURAMERIACANAS/YOPAL/COLOMBIA/JANUARY 31 2001aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20010131-0It's the earlier RR AVON turbojet powered CARAVELLE I through VIR SERIES (subject of the 2nd video) that made all the "RACKET/NOISE". ALSO .... I spent an entire day at Villavicencio (again subject port of the first video) with Camlo, and other Colombian aviation friends, during mid 2009 and which was "quite an experiences). I wrote the following trip report/artocle about that experience .... "DESTINATION VILLAVICENCIO .... Home Of The Last Of The Once Great Classic Colombian Prop-Liner Fleet"tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9956/destination-villavicenci0-travel-articleIt was "quite an/the experience". Mark C AKL/NZ

They just seem particularly loud compared to other jt8ds.

Hard to tell from videos.
In any case prevailing atmospheric/meteorological influences can dictate both the tone and volume of what/anything one hears .... "in the R/W".
After 40+ years of around them all the sound/noise really doesn't impact me all that much now (in fact I hardly notice it) .... so my opinion is undoubtedly colored by that.
