I've already explained this to you David
What was replied earlier is precisely what I noted, in FS, whilst checking these simulations in advance of replying to your recent query .... and although what was replied actually supports your observation
I "DO NOT" regard what's evident as being an issue of any substanceI'll explain "one more time" ....
- Selecting the Landing Lights "ON" (per CTRL+L keyboard commands or the panel Landing Light switches) does also engage the Rear Fuselage Tail Light.
- Selecting the Landing Lights "OFF" (again per CTRL+L keyboard commands or the panel Landing Light switches) does also extinguish the Rear Fuselage Tail Light ....
unless the Wing NAV Lights have been selected "ON".- Selecting the Wing NAV Lights "ON" (per the Panel switches) also engages the Rear Fuselage Tail Light too .... and this light then remains "ON" until the Wing NAV lights are selected "OFF" (usually after landing and arrival at the gate/ramp).
In your image I note the Wing NAV lights appear to be "OFF", so, when the Landing Lights are also selected "OFF" this's why you're then seeing the Rear Fuselage Tail Light extinguish too .... "IF" the Wing NAV lights were already selected "ON" then this wouldn't occur.
The correct/recommended lighting procedure for these simulations is as follows ....
1. Wing NAV Lights "ON" .... prior to departure from the gate/ramp (again this action also engages the rear fuselage Tail Light).
2. Landing Lights "ON" .... only when aligned with the RWY center-line and prior TO.
3. After TO and clean-up the Landing Lights are selected "OFF" .... but .... the Wing NAV lights should always remain "ON". These actions "DO NOT" then result in the Rear Fuselage Tail Light extinguishing.
That's how this lighting should be used. The ground illumination evident beneath the wings is "intentional". This's from the retractable Under Wing lighting (also engaged per the panel Landing Light switches and used for TO and LANDING only). This effect may be evident regardless whether or not the Under Wing Lights are extended or retracted .... possibly an effects limitation in regard to the genealogy of programing supporting these simulations and which dates back some 20 years. The effect is provided though. It works .... as does the modeled retractable Under Wing lighting too.
I should also perhaps mention .... each group of these models was originally compiled differently. There was little uniformity among some features of the original models as Paul and I quickly discovered .... so the reported "extremely minor" lighting detail (subject of this thread) may be evident with just the -61's/-63's/-71's/and -73's only (?). "So far as I'm aware" .... apart from improving both the physical Wing NAV and Anti-Collision lighting only .... no changes to any other lighting, or their associated effects, were applied to any of these recently re-released models or their supporting panels/gauges either.
Once again .... I "DO NOT" consider this matter to be an issue of any substance considering all simulated lighting is actually working correctly ....
"if engaged as recommended". I'll therefore not be endorsing any such further alterations
