David Maltby's documentation for his Vickers VC-10 says:
"With climb configuration set, the aircraft has a natural maximum altitude depending on its speed & weight. It is usual to rise to higher cruise altitudes as fuel is burnt off. If the tail trim is registering more than 0.5 deg nose up, you are probably pushing the model too high. If the tail trim is going nose down, you are probably cruising too low."
Can anyone recommend trim settings to allow a cruise-climb setup for the HJG jets? Would it be the same as for the VC-10, or different depending on the aircraft? There is little to no mention of trim settings in the Air Canada DC-8 manual, other than recommended takeoff trim settings.
I guess you could interpret what he says to mean that you should basically reduce trim to zero and let the aircraft find its own altitude.....

I should think trim settings would be slightly different and very much aircraft specific too .... and dictated in accordance with other operating parameters as well. Unfortunately I've got no trim information for anything either Mark C AKL/NZ
