Windows XP Home Edition
Downloaded 2 BN DC-8-62 files. A/C and panel appear to be loaded correctly. However I get either the C172 panel or no panel when I set up for a flight. Models look great. Paths appear to be correct.
Any ideas?
Joe

Mark, Got it all to work after realising I'd forgotten to to add "panel." in the configuration path Succesfully did a test flight in the ANZ DC-8-50 from Long Beach CA to Yuma AZ, after firstly making sure I understood all the autopilot functions. Keeping ahead of the airplane is essential. Peter S. Melbourne/AUS

Hello All,
First I would like to congratulate all at HJG for creating some awsome aircraft -My company operated both the DC8-50F and the B707-320C for our worldwide adhoc freighter operations. It really brought back to me a great many fond memories of those exciting days which ended for me in 1997 when we had to stop operating both aircraft types due to stringent noise regs across europe.
I down loaded both the B707 and the DC8 series of aircraft and it appears that I have the same problem with the panel not displaying properly for the DC8 -The B707 works just fine.
I get an error message that implies that there is something wrong with the dc8sw guages file or is unable to load the dc8sw guages file.
Now I got it to stop displaying the cessna panel and is displaying the correct dc8 panel but all instruments and switches are blank and empty !
Any help will be appreciated immensely.
Brgds To All
P.S. I will send in a photo of my DC8/B707 in my co livery with the hope that you might include it in your liveries. :DHello All,

Make sure the DC8SW.gau is in the main Gauges folder and nowhere else. Also, ensure that the FSSound module is in the main FS9 folder (but it probably already is since the 707 is working).
If you're missing the DC8SW.gau file, then re-download and manually install it in the GAUGES folder.

The 707 panel doesn't use FSSound.

Just want to help try'n clarify things a bit here regarding DC8 panels installation.
1. Install DC8 panel gauges inside the FS9 "GAUGES" folder.
2. Install the SOUND.DLL module inside the FS9 "MODULES" folder.
You may need to download the FSSOUND.DLL seperately from the top of either "DOUGLAS" and "CONVAIR" panels pages .... it's a very small downloads but a critical component for the panel/s.
You must also then edit your FS9.CFG by copying and pasting the follwing entry
[OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1
This edit is mandatory.
3. Install all DC8 panel sounds inside the FS9 "SOUND" folder.
4. Install the GAUGE.DLL inside the FS9 Route Directory folder .... the file named "FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9"
All that should see you right with in respect of DC8 panel installation.
As George CARTY has indicated, the B707/720 panels do not require the FSSOUND.DLL, but, it is an essential ingedient for the functionality of our DC8 & CV880/990 panels. You only need install this once .... of course. Without this FSSOUND.DLL our DC8 & CV880/990 panels simply cannot and will not work. It will not interefere with the B707 panels in any way.
Hope that helps clarify things sufficiently for you.

It also may vary depending on whether you have multiple windows users set up.
On my computer, the path is:
C:\Documents and Settings\halinda\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
... where 'halinda' is my windows user name.
Also, the folder may be hidden. In windows explorer, go to Tools...Folder Options. Click on the 'View' tab. You will find an option for 'Hidden files and folders'. Make sure you have selected 'Show hidden files and folders'.
Good luck!
Jim
