Elliot
The retro livery's cheatline/titling/tail were all pinched off of the texture already available on HJG, all i did was add my own metal texture.

elliott, those pics are very old, and the hue is usually way off (eg too much blue or green). yea mark i was playing with those americans too, but ben's look pretty good. Ben, how much alpha are you using?

Being an aviation photographer for the past 30 years I can testify 2 factors often come into play here. 1. Some early imagery of AA aircraft may reveal a more red/orange looking red .... sometimes because these colours did tend bleach somewhat after prolonged exposure to the elements .... in much the same way that airliners can often loose there sheen after a while to take on a more egg-shell type appearance. 2. Sometimes that's just the way shades of red appear on film for .... whatever technical reason .... and early printing, developing, and duplication processes/techniques could often make things look much worse. I think what Ben's got there is "pretty close" .... and I'm more than comfortable with it Mark C AKL/NZ

Sorry to go back to an older thread, this is more of a request but is there any chance of the American 720s getting the same metal treatment? Those are some of the best metal textures I have ever seen and it would be great to see them on the 720s

I would consider doing more photoreals but with the baby on the way and being snowed under with requests i really couldnt give a positive answer...........
......i have actually lost track of all the aircraft i am supposed to be painting!!!
