Please consider doing this Bill .... and maybe try out a couple of CONVAIR's whilst you're at it too.
"IF" .... this issue should persist with these aircraft, then I believe we can pretty much assume something isn't right on your own system, FS version, or controller device configuration .... maybe !
I'm pretty sure the key to resolving your particular issues may lie in relation to 1 of the above 3 categeroies.

Mark,
I loaded the DC-8-50 and the autopilot worked just fine and there was no porpoising.
I originally tried to install DC-8-10 N8008D but never could get it to install.

I'm pleased to know that about the DC8 .... but .... it doesn't help resolve what's going on with the B707 gauges on your own system .... more-so when what's been reported is not a generally experienced problem. What I do want you to do however is try what I recommended to you per my last 2 PM's. "IF" that recommendation fails .... then I'm all out of suggestions and must accept that "something" (though I'm buggered if I know what) on your system simply doesn't like the B707 gauges set Both our B707, and DC8 gauges represent different programming founded by different authors. It would be wrong to assume there's complete unanymity between the 2. I can't imagine why the DC8-10 file doesn't install That package is "FINE" .... so far as I'm aware ! Mark C BOG/CO

If you can install one but not the other, I'm sad to say that you don't know what you are doing.... reg. the porpoising, have you tried to re-calibrate your joystick as I told you many moons ago?
I think you are the only one know that experience this problem, so if all our advices all together don't help I'm afraid you have to find another aircraft to fly, or buy your self a new computer, as the current one obviously don't behave. (or you are not trying what we suggest.
I think its time to let this thread get to a hold now.....

Dan,
>so if all our advices all together don't help I'm afraid you have to find another aircraft to fly, or buy your self a new computer, as the current one obviously don't behave. (or you are not trying what we suggest<
My computer will calculate PI to 1M places in 14 sec. I don't think my computer is the problem. I am not suggesting in any way that the porpoising problem is related to your aircraft. My comments were strictly a statement of my experiences. I have done everything that was asked of me by Mark over the last few days.
I am perfectly content using the B737 panel for the B707 aircraft.
If you prefer I can delete all the HJG aircraft I have downloaded from my computer and not return to this forum.

Well, I'm not in the position to tell you what to do and what not. So that would be entirely up to you.

Just a guess, but could this porpoising problem be caused by an unstable altimiter setting? in other words if the altimiter setting fluctuates from it's setting of 29.92inHG.
I have never experienced this myself, with any of the HJG aircraft , once set obove FL180. Just a thought.

That's a reasonable suggestion Herman !
I suppose that could (in theory) produce such a response/performance .... but .... what could cause it to happen on 1 PC and yet not at all on what seems to be by far the majority of PC's .... unless a particular weather program might be influencing things !
