Hi Red
A good start..but...
There is no point in showing the paintkit
Only when it goes into FS will you know if it lines up and if the colours are right
Getting it into FS is the first thing you should do before you start painting and only work on how it is looking in FS

Garry:
It's not my work, just what I wanted...for now...we'll call him the "Good Samaritan."
As for showing it at this stage of development...please allow me a bit of leeway due to a state of "overexcitement." And, a lot of folks had kind of a "general idea" of what I wanted, but this shows it...and...how simple it is. It is literally a color reversal and reletter on a B747-400ER of what I really want on the VC-137C, upon which it is based. White = lighter red, burgundy red = dark blue, Alcad Aluminum...stays the same. Gold window cheat line...same. 89th MAW Gold "Lightening Stripe" and U.S. Flag on tail = SAME.
I won't show any more until she's up and flying over a scenic area though. Plus, I just knew everybody would be interested in the story about how I fell out of my chair when I saw this after two years of searching!!! And no...I'm not 12 years old...but...the beginning of the project made this old fart feel 12...LOL!
As far as "getting it into FS," I assume that the Good Samaritan is doing that. I sure wish I knew how to paint, darn it. But at least I found somebody to partner with me on the Jumbo, and when it is finished...maybe it will lead to other things, hopefully. If it ends up good enough...I'll send it off to TCMPacificModelWorks when they have "custom-painted planes on special" in 1:100th scale. For those who are familiar with model railroading, that is "almost" HO-Scale, which is 1:87th.
I'm getting four cars of the train made up for my display and an engine...might as well have a plane, too, huh? But I do wait for those specials on those pricey items. You can get some really good deals if you get on their email newsletter. They've got PLENTY of 707s and DC8s, Convairs, and, military aircraft. And, everthing ever flown by the 89th Airlift Wing or the HMX-1 Presidential Helicopter Squadron.
