Well, as you can tell from my name here, I love the 727. I flew her for 7 years as first officer, and a year and a half as flight engineer. I am currently flying the 737 in the left seat. I was wondering if there were any plans from anyone here to model the 727? The quality of the aircraft here is astounding, and I would really like to see that talent applied to the 727 as well! Any takers?

OK .... there are a number of other classic jetliner types we're keen to introduce here .... of which B727-100/200 is featured .... but .... that's a little way ahead yet. Best I can say for the moment is we'll go for broke and see what we can do Mark C AKL/NZ

Mark,
Not to dissuade you guys, but why build a 727 when there's already 3 models out there (2 payware and 1 freeware)? You already have the 727-200s available for free from Erick Cantu and Vistaliners with the -100 series on the way, and you have both the -200 and -100 available from both CaptainSim and DreemFleet. There's also the FSPainter and AI Aardvark versions as well.
I think the 727, like the 737 is an overdone subject. What about doing the Classic 747s? As far as I know, only POSKY has done it for freeware.

I have to agree with Chris, the Vistaliners 727-200 , and soon to come -100, are really hard models to top. I'm not saying you couldn't do it. But to put all that effort into something that is equal to someone elses identical product seems pointless. All the time and work you put into a creating a model, it seems a shame to have to share the spotlight with someone else's. Besides, HJG has been doing unique planes that no one else does, which creates the demand. I like the idea of the classic 747's though. They seem to have been neglected. As well as the 737-200.

indeed we should concentrate on what we're good at. DC8's and seven O's.

Hi to all I have to agree with Chris and Empress there is no need ( in my Opinion ) for a 727 or a 747. What I personally miss is a FS9 De Havilland Comet 1 I never heard that David Maltby or another Modeler have this Outstanding Historic Jet in his working pipeline. A very good Sound set is available. I'll throw my 2 cents in the hat here. I would love to do a really great 727 sometime, but (as has been pointed out already) there are already some really really great 727's out (thats one more "really" than mine ). I have a lot of plans for the 7ohh's and the 135's., and just getting through all those will take some time. For now I am going to stick to what I already have in front of me. Cheers, Gary

Well, I have to agree that there are many options for those wanting the 727. But c'mon, can you ever have too many? He, he. All points are well taken. I like the fact that the harder to find aircraft are done here, and that is what makes HJG so unique! Thanks for the replies! -727guy

HEY folks .... I didn't say we were going to build it. All I said was "some of us were keen to see it introduced/represented here". Where it come from is an entirely different matter. As I also implied: "IF" indeed this does happen .... then it's not going to happen quickly. Our priorities are still centered around B707/720/C135 series, CV880, CV990, & DC8 .... of course. Just wanted to clarify my hastily written earlier posting of late last evening Mark C AKL/NZ

"WOLFGANG" .... I'd dearly love to see COMET 1 & 2 represented for FS9 too .... as many folk from the old HJG forum might well remember. In fact I'm the person responsible for making that soundpack for COMET 1 which is currently available on the CBF website www.classicbritishfiles.com/The only COMET 1 model so far produced for FS is by Eric WRIGHT and for FS2002 .... still available from members.cox.net/oceans_11/Eric's intention was to upgrade this model to FS9, but sadly, he lost all his files in an HD crash (including those for a TU104 he was also working on at the same time) a little while back. Consequently the project never proceeded I don't know what David MALTBY's future plans are for these particular aircraft. I don't believe there's anything in the immediate pipeline .... unfortunately .... and to that extent COMET 1 for FS9 is "DEAD" Eric's COMET 1 model (although showing it's age now) will operate in FS9 on the basis of first deleting both it's current AIRCRAFT.CFG & AIR.FILE data and replacing these with the AIRCRAFT.CFG & AIR FILE from David MALTBY's COMET 3 .... this "dirty fix" produces a slightly overpowered and longer-legged COMET 1 which is otherwise still a pleasure to fly .... and I do occasionally still fly it in FS9 for that very reason. However, some minor display issues arise when using this old FS2002 model in FS9 .... the wheels don't rotate properly at high ground speeds, engine intakes remain blacked out, external cabin night lighting along with ground illumination from panel view doesn't work, and some folk report the landing gear doesn't display (depending on their graphics card type). The latter problem doesn't appear to be a universal .... I personally haven't experienced this. David MALTBY's beautiful COMET panel (although much too modern for COMET 1) will also work with Eric's COMET 1 model .... but once again .... only if you replace the default AIRCRAFT.CFG & AIR FILE with equivalent data from one of David's COMET's .... again I'd recommend COMET 3 as the best alternative in this case. Try it if you care to .... along with my COMET 1 soundpack too ;D .... because it's all still quite enjoyable to fly within FS9 from aircraft panel view. It'll please some .... but .... not everyone I know Hope that's of interest anyway Mark C AKL/NZ

I agree with Mark on this one I think the Vistaliners 727 is stunning considering it's a freeware aircraft as well! I am looking foward to their 100 series as well. Maybe if we go down that road of other classics the 727 along with the 737-200 would be worth having here...but in the abscence of any model builder at HJG who wants to take this on ( Gary is busy enough with the 707 models) we will look at the FFX 737 unless anyone knows of a better 737-200??? Or even better wants to build one and host it on HJG ;D

I don´t know if it would be a departure from the original philosofy of the group but maybe we could have a section qhere peolple could upload theire repaints of HJG birds and maybe even their aircracfts. But I personally think HJG still should concentrate on 1st generation jetliners.

HJG has obviously changed from what it was before however as we move through the transistion period especially to a new look website we will look at various options but and it's a big but..We want to keep these first generation jets at the front of whatever we do, I think there are a lot of other websites offering later types and I would never want to see the home of the "Classics" ignore them, Think it will be a long long time before that ever happens here

Hi Mark Thank you very much for your explanation, but i have this bird over 2 years in "Game" I have made an updated Air-File to match better with David´s Panel ( overheating warning lamps ) It fitts better with the original Aircraft.cfg file. With that, the range is nearly 1500 nm like the Original. If you want I can send the Air-file to you. Also I made an Soundset based on a file that I found on Flightsim.com that represented the Ghost Engine. It sounds similar to yours on outside view. But now I use yours because I think it is much better. The problems that I have with this Comet are the Textures. This "metallic look" And I´d never seen a good repaint like the Quality on the HJG - Birds ;D Greetings Wolfgang
