I have been approached by the HJG in order to contribute the panel found in my 707-436 BOAC freeware package. I am currently in the process of making improvements to this panel (giving all gauges FS2004-style dynamic tooltips, improving the shape of the HSI, making the background bitmap more realistic). This panel will then be suitable for both -320 and -420 marques (the -420 has a smaller centre tank so I have already provided two alternate gauges for this).
Once the -320/-420 panel is done, I intend to do a -120 panel which will have a great deal of source code commonality with the -320/-420 panel (all gauges except the wipers are part of a single cluster GAU file). However, I am unsure whether to make a single combined package covering all marques, or to make the -120 a separate package. I'd like some opinions please...
Advantages of a single package: More economical of disk space for those using both panels, possible to "mix and match" gauges.
Advantages of two separate packages: More economical of disk space for those using only one panel, can get -320/-420 put online before starting work on -120.
Thanks in advance for your advice...

I think two packages would better suit HJG standards as the DC8 panels, although having many things in common are all offered in separate packages.

OK, so we've had two votes for "two packages". Any dissenters?

I'm fine with two packages. I have lots of room on my hard drive! ;D
I look forward to seeing your panels become the 'HJG standard'!
Will it still require modifications to the fuel section in the aircraft.cfg, or are you changing the panel?
Regards,
Jim

Will it still require modifications to the fuel section in the aircraft.cfg, or are you changing the panel? Yes, but the plan will be to modify all the 707 FDEs on the HJG site so that the aircraft.cfg will be pre-configured for my panel...

By the way, if no one votes 'one package' by the end of today, I'll go ahead with two packages...

Hi George,
I too am looking forward to seeing your 707/720 panel become a HJG standard. I have in the past enjoyed your aircraft/panel package along with Dourado's 707 panel. I have been using Paul Golding's older 707 panel as well. However some of the functions do not work with the FS09 aircraft. His panel is great but I do not know what it would take to update it for FS09 and if anyone can do so legally.
Will be looking forward to your contribution this HJG site.
Thanks,
Ray Mengel Spokane, WA

BY the way I have begun the process of converting the panel for -120 and 720 aircraft. The fuel gauges are changed, as have the flap detents (the -120s as well as the 720s should be 0-20-30-40-50, not the 0-14-25-40-50 of the -320s and -420s).

Over the weekend I've made excellent progress on the -120 panel. Now (unless I decide to change my fuel tank labelling convention) only the panel floodlighting and DMEs are still to be done. I've also improved the ADI background and HSI rose on the -320 panel (not uploaded though yet...)

Those are good news! I've also been working on my Doppler Navigation project. Besides that, I plan on doing a takeoff/landing card gauge with automatic calculation of v-peeds. And I also started working on improvements of my panel design.
