United had a 747 at ORD do that a few years ago...I can't seem to remember how they got it back down, but it sure was a sight to see coming in through the North Gate...

Before deciding flying airplanes was better than driving a dump truck, I had a similar thing happen. As I was raising the dump box to unload gravel, I pulled on the tailgate release lever but it didn't activate and up I went !! The boss was there in a flash and said..."Well, what are you gonna do now?!" I merely put it in reverse and backed up and I came down with a bang!
