please help. I added the 2-unit INS to the HJG panel (1965 320C), alignment went ok down to 05, I took off and egaged the INS (the little switch that comes with civa package) then engaged autopilot of 707 and engaged heading mode, and nothing - no heading hold, as if INS was not there at all.
Is civa INS compatible with HJG or not? I know people have been adding civa to HJG so please help me with directions with how to make it work with 707 panel/autopilot.
I have this on the VC-10 by D Maltby and there it works as it should, going from navaid to navais as programmed.

Sorry .... we/HJG .... do not provide support/assistance with CIVA.
It's not an HJG offered item/product.
HOWEVER .... any community member, out there, with sufficient experience/competence/skill, and wishes to do so, is most welcome to comment here accordingly.

Hi Mark, long time no talk )
ok I know what the problem is, it cannot communicate with your (HJG) autopilot. I am now flying a swiss DC-8-62 Boston to Zurich with dual INS and it does track INS heading (I tested it yesterday so I'd have no problem flying it today )))
Ok the 707 stock INS is ok, I just wanted a consistency with other planes where I use the awesome civa one. There are other issues: the ground power seems to be on for limited amount of time, then it is off. The time it is on is not sufficient for INS alignment. And the greatest problem is: why haven't you guys designed an engineer panel for a DC-8 to a 707 extensity? Even your Caravelle has one ) The plane/panel has been there for almost a decade, people have accustomed to it and now need more complexity to play with. At least some generators and fuel control, come on guys... You have no major projects in development at present, it is a good time to add to the DC-8 panel.

" I beg to differ on that last statement Take a look at what's been happening with the DC9 series and the panels that are forthcoming. We haven't been twiddling our thumbs. If you want such an addition, why not design it and let us integrate it? We're all unpaid volunteers here. Mike

I've never experienced .... let alone heard .... of any such issue with regard to the GPU.
So far as I'm aware (and despite realworld practice .... remember this's FS) .... there's no intended relationship between it and and providing power to run the aircrafts systems .... among which include the INS.
The provided GPU feature is only intended to provide more realistic engine startup sequences. It's not intended to be kept running in any of the panels equipped with it.
If you are loosing battery power after some period .... then you may likely need to invest in a module like FSUIPC which as an extend battery life option.
Again .... I've never seen any similar report regarding the INS .... and .... it's probably one of the only features of our panels which I'm not sufficiently familiar with in respect of being able to offer intelligent advice .... other than make sure you have the most current HJG panels, and gauges core files installed.
"ALEXZAR14" .... it's one thing for folk to want something .... but realistically .... it's an altogether different situation for us sometimes to be able to provide it .... and some people are inclined to be over expectant in respect of what they feel we should do versus what we can actually offer. And .... as you will undoubtedly recall .... we've already been through similar details with you a couple of times in the past .... remembering your expectation of David MALTBY to do COMET 1, and then your suggested modifications for the ARNZ BAe 146 models too shortly after their release ?
SO THEN .... in light of the above ....
The original HJG did toil with the idea of a DC8 F/E panel with limited functionality when these panels were first released .... as we (the new HJG) did also .... BUT .... we currently have no plans to incorporate this into our own DC8's, CV880/CV990 panels .... and other incidentals, like INS for these panels, have also been postponed indefinitely too.
Additionally .... our DC8, B707/720, and CV880/990 panels are designed/programmed by different individuals, and by implication, to different standards too .... mostly representing the preferences, if not capabilities, of those designers/programmers. For my part at least .... I'm just grateful we've got something reasonably authentic to offer for each of the aircraft we currently represent rather than generic FSMS panels.
I find this kind statement somewhat irritating .... to say the least !
"ALEXZAR14" .... in all due respect .... you're not an HJG group member .... and therefore are in no position to make such incredulous claims because you wouldn't have the slightest clue regarding what this team are actually working on/developing in the background
At the risk of seeming unnecessarily "direct" .... I feel it necessary to remind everyone as to our basic functionality as an FS group .... in that we/HJG aren't a business, we're under no obligations to anyone, and we develop we can .... as we can .... often in conjunction with other FS groups and community members outside of HJG .... and then release these products once "we're first reasonably satisfied" with what's been produced. In reminding everyone of this it's intended only to try'n curb that aspect of "OVER EXPECTATION" which is evident from some sectors of the FS community.
I also obviously need to remind folk that the CARAVELLE project is not HJG's. It's the property of AFG. By their authorization we only host it .... and try to provide support it .... as best we possibly can.

>At the risk of seeming unnecessarily direct ....
no Marc, don't worry about it ) I regarded you as my "old friend", from there was my straight-forward formulation of question and stipulations. Also, limitations of my english often result in less-diplomatic (less polite) formulation of my thought, less then perhaps it should have been.
ok so thanks for the heads up guys, now I now what's going on here at HJG. I'll check out whatever the info you posted on DC-9 panels (I have not yet discovered it yet) For the past 5 years I was into FMS planes, PMDG, Wilco/Feelthere, PSS and regionals like F1 ATR and etc, that's all I was into. Eventually I had enough of it and... having my head scratched, an enlightenment came! - Calclassic! HJG! INS!!! )) Also the reasoning are the books on airliners I am reading, they inspire me to fly in FS what I read in the books.
Yes Comet 1 would be nice, but David said (years ago it was) it would be a wholly-new model in design respect. I think as he turned older with years (as we all have), he got tired of computer and "retired" from design business. J Kristensen made a beautiful visual, but it does not work with Maltby's panel (

Thank you Alex .... I'll accept that .... and "YES" ;D .... I'll still be your old friend too ! Actually .... my response wasn't so much intended for you personally, but rather, was a general one, since we (myself at least) do get a lot correspondence, from a lot of people, behind the scenes/outside this forum .... and which does, sometimes, influence the maner of replies. Folk unsuspecting of this "fuller picture" may be forgiven for not realizing that though .... of course UMMM .... I'll need to check, because it's been quite a while now (many projects and moons past), but, I thought I got David's COMET 4 panel running acceptably well with Jens model/s .... but not without some major CFG alterations. I'll report back later on this .... when I get time ;D .... "IF" I ever get time Mark C AKL/NZ

David's Comet 4 model had features not available on Comet 1, therefore there is a miscommunication between panel and model. OK have a look...
the DC-8 flight was a joy, now flying back to Boston on 1970 AA 707-300C, INS is cool, love this stuff! )
Those yammie Caravelles you have, I can't wait to try that.
