As there is nothing by Mr. Matt Zagoren (or anything else I can find) covering the take off and landing reference speed for Convair Jets, does anyone have anything additional available?
Also, I presume there is cruise after the FL 310 called out in the HJG documentation.

Only my own CONVAIR PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES .... on the ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT forum page.
These do feature a "basic flying guide" for each of the CV880-22, CV880-22M, CV990 (early), and CV990-A type aircraft .... along with a lot of other information intended to help folk both understand these aircraft better, and, to get the very best of these simulations too.
Your T/O V/REF speeds will all be aircraft weight, ambient temperature, and airport altitude related .... and will vary accordingly !

I have been flying the CV990 7990A's quite often lately.
Here are some figures that I use and they seem to work OK.
I usually select a fuel load of 60% Flaps--27deg. Vr--140kts V2--160kts
During descent I reduce my fuel load to 25%
On final I reduce airspeed to 160kts. further reducing speed slowly as I get closer to short final.
Vref--140knts
In the absence of any other information this is what I use.

Also, I presume there is cruise after the FL 310 called out in the HJG documentation. I posted some numbers for the CV-880M in the Convair support section. Basicly Vref for the CV-880 is weight/1000. If the weight is 155,000 lbs. (MGLW), then Vref is 155 KIAS. I don't know why, it just always worked out that way. . On landing the CV-880M needs 10 degrees of spoiler. This helps keep the engines spooled up. Remember Vref is Vso +30. Be very aware of the MGLW. Bill
