WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT EACH DC9 MODEL ?
Many of our DC9 aircraft base packs contain more than 1 model. We are occasionally asked about these.
Here is a list of all the DC9 models we currently offer and the differences between each.
PLEASE NOTE .... While not all DC9 series aircraft base packs use all model variations for constency the different aircraft series models all use the same naming conventions ....
Model.01
Base passenger model with forward passenger stairs.
Model.02
Base passenger model with forward and rear passenger stairs.
Model.03
Same as model.01 with additional satellite antenna on top of the fuselage.
Model.04
Same as model.02 with additional satellite antenna on top of the fuselage.
Model.05
Same as model.01 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Model.06
Same as model.02 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Model.07
Same as model.03 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Model.08
Same as model.04 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Model.09
Base cargo/combi model with forward stairs.
Model.10
Base cargo/combi model with forward and rear stairs.
Model.11
Same as model.09 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Model.12
Same as model.10 with extended engine nacelles housing hush kit modifications.
Each DC9 comes with a number of operating doors. To open/close these doors use the following keyboard commands ....
For the main cabin door and lower deck cargo doors use:
Passenger Door (Shift+E+1)
For the galley service door use:
Cargo Door (Shift+E+2)
For the forward stairs use:
Concorde Visor Extend/Retract (not assigned by default)
For the rear stairs use:
Tailhook (not assigned by default)
For the main deck cargo door use:
Wingfold (not assigned by default)
Below is some basic information about the DC9.
Total DC9 production: 976 aircraft:
DC-9 Series 10: 173 aircraft
DC-9 Series 20: 10 aircraft
DC-9 Series 30: 619 aircraft
DC-9 Series 40: 71 aircraft
DC-9 Series 50: 96 aircraft
C-9 Skytrain II: 43 aircraft
Engines used on production DC9 models:
JT8D-1: 146 aircraft
JT8D-5: 26 aircraft
JT8D-7: 339 aircraft
JT8D-9: 251 aircraft
JT8D-11: 55 aircraft
JT8D-15: 50 aircraft
JT8D-17: 109 aircraft
Some DC9 series 10 and -30 aircraft were built without rear stairs. These were also the only DC9 models to be built as pure freight/cargo versions.
The most numerous production version was the DC9-32 with 336 aircraft built. The least numerous version was the DC9-32F with only 2 aircraft built for one customer .... Alitalia. The only airlines to order DC9-10 models with cargo doors were Continental Airlines and Trans Texas/Texas International Airways.
Eastern Airlines was the largest purchaser of new-build DC9 aircraft taking delivery of a total of 96 aircraft from McDonnell Douglas. Several operators took delivery of 1 only new-build DC9 aircraft .... among which included Dominicana De Aviacion, Ghana Airways, Korean Air Lines, Pan Adria Airways, Tracey Investment Corp. and Playboy Enterprises.
