I'm working on a step-by-step procedure that I'll post here later today. Nothing better to do without a flight sim computer at the moment. Mike

Roy,
Here’s my step by step instructions. All of the download files have detailed instructions for each of the elements. All I’m really doing is stringing those instructions together along with some basic Windows operations. Always refer to the individual instructions for more details.
Right click Start and bring up windows explorer
Expand the C:\ drive so you can see all its folders/files
Under the File menu select New and then folder; a new folder should appear on the right side awaiting a name. Let’s call it 707. KEEP Explorer open; we’re going to need it later to move all these files around.
Now go to HJG downloads and pick a 707 model, say a 707-320. At the top of the 707-320’s is the link for the base pack, download that to your desktop. Now scroll down and find a texture you like, let’s say TWA 1979 (last on list) and download that to your desktop.
Now back to the main HJG download page, Down to the bottom and let’s get the panel. Click Boeing, The very first file is the core gauges (required for all panels), download that to your desktop. Not done yet, scroll down and find the correct panel, in this case the left column will indicate B707-320, download that to your desktop. Close the panel download popup.
Back to the main download page, very bottom, we now need the sounds. Once again Boeing, scroll down to find the sounds that fit the 707-320 (second one in the list) and download to desktop.
OK, all done with downloading.
Next we need to extract the files.
Find the base pack zip file on your desktop, right click and select Extract all. When the wizard comes up, browse to the 707 folder we created and extract the files to there. You should now have a folder inside your 707 folder named HJG Boeing 707-320 v7
Now here’s where I do things differently than Bob. In explorer, find the Program Files folder, open it and then find Microsoft Games, open it, and finally open the FS folder. Now open the aircraft folder in FS and you should see all your installed planes. Go back up to your 707 folder, now drag the HJG B707-320 v7 folder to the FS aircraft folder. Ok, now your plane is in FS, but not ready to fly yet.
Your 707 folder should be now empty. Go to the desktop and extract your texture file to the 707 folder. You’ll now have a folder inside your 707 folder with the same name as the zip file; open this folder and there’s another folder whose name begins with texture.trans etc, and several notepad files. Take the texture.trans folder and drag it into your HJG B707 folder within the aircraft folder of FS. Your HJG B707 folder should now have the usual model, sound, panel folders along with this new texture folder. Back in your 707 folder open the notepad file “add to aircraft”, select and copy all the text there. Go to the HJG aircraft folder and open up the aircraft.cfg file . At the top you will see instructions to add your fltsim sections here. Below the \\ back slashed lines and above the [general] section paste the flt.sim lines and then change the fltsim.xx to fltsim.0; zero, not Oh.
You now have a working airplane, but not up to HJG quality ;D
Now extract the core gauges zip to your 707 folder. There will be two folders, gauges and sound and a notepad instruction. Open the gauge folder and there will be, in this example, 3 files. Drag these files to your Gauge folder in FS, over write as necessary. Go back to the 707 folder and open the sound folder, select all the files and drag to the FS SOUND FOLDER, NOT the sound folder within your HJG aircraft.
Almost there… it does gets easier with practice. Now extract your panel zip to the 707 folder. You will have a panel.707-320 folder and a notepad instruction. Drag the panel folder to the fsconv folder, which is one of the folders within the FS aircraft folder; should be close by to your HJG airplane. Now go back to the notepad instructions and carefully follow what is written there in steps 4 and 5. What I usually do is copy and then paste the alias line from the notepad instructions to the panel.cfg file.
One more step: extract the sound file aeromusica…. to the 707 folder. You’ll now have a folder with the same aeromusica name; open that folder and there will be a folder simply called ‘sound’. As the instructions say, just drag that folder into the HJG aircraft folder and say yes to overwrite.
You’re done!

roy,
not a problem. as to your specific question: add the second texture.xxxx file to the HJG aircraft folder. Then add the second set of fltsim.xx lines below the first set, THEN change the numbering of the second set of fltsim.xx line to fltsim.1
You can add as many textures as you like, just keep adding the fltsim.xx lines that come with the texture to the aircraft.cfg file and number in sequence. Always number the first texture 0, then the next 1, next 2, etc.

I'm not sure where you're specific problem would be. the procedure for all HJG aircraft is exactly the same, so if you are successful for one, the rest are the same.
The -8's and -9's install the same way as the Boeings. Just make sure you are downloading the right packages and don't mix up folders, etc. that is why I always extract one step at a time to a folder outside of FS.

hi mike! one of the peoblems i am having at the moment (when trying to install the guages for the dc-9 50) is the instuctions tell me i must install "fssound.dll" inside the "modules folder"..ok but then it instucts me to locate the fs9.cfg file and to edit it ...but i dont know how to locate this file! when i type it in the search box..nothing is found...i think this is one of the main reasons that i can,t get the panels to work.. so i need to know how to locate this file (fs9.cfg) thanks ..roy.

There is no need for the fssounds.dll any more so skip that part... and use Google once in a while (a small search on "FS9.cfg folder" will probably give you a million hits) You will also find out why you do not find it via a simple search (hint: it is placed in a hidden folder, and if you haven't told windows to show hidden folders, you won't find it )

I can write installer packages in C++ WIN32/API fairly straight forward and create installation programs for the aircrafts here. I hate installation programs that add stuff to my start menu or my uninstall programs list in Windows, so my installer would only execute and copy the files to the appropriate locations.
Perhaps when the DC8 series is complete, I may get around to this if fellow HJG staff members would like it but no promises as of now.

Thks I can highly recommend a wonderful program called " Common Sense" instead of all these more or less useless install-programmes... "Common Sense" never need to be updated as it is equally forward and backwards compatible. Especially if used together with the very seldom used program " Read the manual" which in turn tends to be rather overlooked. Despite the fact that it is undoubtedly one of the most useful programs ever invented....

i wish Dan...... to be a computer savy as many guys but unfortunatly this thing is not really as easy as its looks.there are some phrasiolgy on the computer world that most of you guys know and for some of us with limited knowledge of computers.I just want to have the chance to fly planes i like and this site have the best but....downloading files and put the all together and instaling them on the fs need more "than common sense" as you said needs;computer knowledge and not everybody have it. thks anyway but Im still sitting in the same spot.
