Hi,
I have made many flights now with the Caravelle 3 and 6R and I can confirm that the Afg Caravelle with Benoit Gaurant's panel works very well in FSX. At least on my machine (1280*1024 resolution)
The only thing that does not work to satisfaction is the manual start procedure of the engines. (work's once in 10 times). But you can help yourself with Ctrl-E (followed by Ctrl-shift-F4)
Everything else works, cold/warm start, autopilot, the systems, hydraulics, electrics, pressurization, air conditionning etc and also the failures.
I have made just three small modifications:
-Add of a Zorder parameter in the panel.cfg (otherwise the pop-up panels are hidden) Zorder=0 for Window00, Zorder=1 for Window01 and Zorder=3 for all the other windows
-Changed the pitch stability in the tuning section of the aircraft.cfg pitch_stability = 2.3 (instead of 1.0) . Otherwise there is a very light pitch up/down on cruise.
-Changed The smokesystem parameters of the aircraft.cfg : smoke.0= -45.4530708661417, 7.9, 1.9304, fx_caravelle_eng smoke.1= -45.4530708661417, -7.9, 1.9304, fx_caravelle_eng to get the black smoke behind the engines.
I wanted to signal this to all Caravelle fan's.

Thanks for the feedback Guy.... all details noted ! However .... before we can market the CARAVELLE files as "FSX COMPATIBLE" the details you've noted, minor though these may be, among other small details too, would all need to be successfully addressed .... and which is why we currently make no statement regarding FSX compatibility in respect of any of these CARAVELLE files. I feel Esa & Ari KAIHLANEN and Benoit GAURANT (our AFG partners) would also probably feel much more comfortable with this (what I've outlined above) .... only so that we don't make any false claims which might otherwise result in some folks misinterpreting things to mean the files we currently offer are 100% FSX compatibile. We'll make an FSX compatibility statement when my AFG colleagues are first content Let's just say .... "experience has taught us to be very cautions in regard to such claims" .... and which I, personally, think is for the better. Mark C AKL/NZ

Hey Guy
I read the most of this articles with great interest, and i want to try to make this small changes to the cfg file, but where do you put this zorder parameter, can you show a line so i can see it. I look forward to the release af the fsx compatible model, but in the meantime, i want to fly it if i can. By the way; where will i find it after release.?
Best regards Sterling, DK

Regards Caravelle, DK All our Caravelles are equally made, so there is not of them more suitable for FSX than the other, and until further notice we do not support the Caravelle in FSX. Please take you time and make yourself acquainted with both our policies, and also what's available and what's not Spend some time browsing the Forum an familiarize yourself first before jumping into questions that might have been answered before

What Dan states (above) is "QUITE CORRECT".
We are aware that these CARAVELLE's "may" currently port over FSX .... BUT .... we need to be clear when we state that what is offered here is marketed as "FS2004 COMPATIBLE ONLY".
We are not prepared to state/market the CARAVELLE project (models/textures/panels/FDE) as FSX compatible .... until our AFG colleagues/partners clear us to do so .... and which will then be communicated on this forum.
We simply do not want folk to be under the misapprehension that these CARAVELLE's are currently FSX compatible .... simply because some folk have have apparently ported them over. There's a big difference between something porting over to FSX and it actually being 100% compatible with that FS version.
Once again .... "FS2004 COMPATIBILITY" is what both we, and our AFG partners (the owners/developers of this project) currently market in respect of this CARAVELLE project !

Best regards Sterling, DK The Caravelle run's very well in FSX with the small modifications I gave above. (with the restriction of the engine start) But I understand and respect also the view-point of the HJG people. I give you the information concerning the addition of the ZORDER parameter in the panel.cfg : [Window00] file=Upper_c6r.bmp size_mm=1280 position=2 zorder=0 visible=1 ident=10020 ..... [window01] file=main_c6r.bmp size_mm=1280 position=6 zorder=1 visible=1 ident=10000 ......... [Window02] file=GearInd_c6r.bmp size_mm=186 position=8 zorder=3 visible=1 ident=10030 ................. etc (Zorder=3 for all the other windows) I am sorry for the late answer. Happy landings with the Caravelle in Fsx! Guy

Hey
What a Lady, i just have the pleasure to make a short flight Copenhagen-Ã…rhus. And it take nearly the dobbel time as normal, becauce i take the time to figure out som things. I cant seem to understand how the Autopilot works both with og whitout GPS, and it make the ILS approach difficult. I figured out to open the rear entrance, and thats nice, but not the main entrance and cargo door. I still know that its not FSX Compatible, but maybe some of the member inside this forum could give an advice how it works.
Anyway, thanks for the tip about making it works so far :-)
Best regards Sterling
