The above DC9-32 YV-367T is apparently the oldest DC9 aircraft in Venezuela .... C/N 47128 .... and the 210th DC9 built by McDonnell-Douglas .... represented here in ASERCA AIRLINES attractive light red/black/pearl grey livery from 2010.
This aircraft was first delivered to ALITALIA as I-DIRC on November 12th 1967 and remained in service with the airline until December 1992. During its ALITALIA service this aircraft was also leased to AEROMEDITERRANEA from December 1983 .... where it acquired a US registration (N516MD) before returning to ALITALIA service (as N516MD) during May 1984. In May 1989 .... and still in ALITALIA service .... this aircraft was reregistered (I-RIZH) .... and then reregistered (I-RIFH) again during December 1992. It next saw service with NORTHWEST AIRLINES (N614NW) from April 1996 and was acquired by ASERCA AIRLINES (YV-367T) on November 11th 2008.

Just added 3 more subject to the above presentation .... this time featuring each of the following .... ISLA AIRLINES DC9-31 YV-705C (1994) Don´t know much about the aboce carrier other than they existed briefly around the mid 1990´s .... and probably serviced the Venezuelan mainland and the island of Margarita. Alejandro might, hopefully, be able to fill us in with a few details regarding this particular carrier. ASERCA AEROLINEAS TOURIST SERVICES DC9-31 YV-705C (1996) "Virgen De Valle" .... with small sun logo and red titles ! ASERCA AEROLINEAS TOURIST SERVICES DC9-31 YV-707C (1996) .... with large sun logo and pink titles ! Both of the above aircraft representing the tourist wing of Venezuela´s ASERCA AIRLINES. Muy bonito trsbajo Alejandro .... muchismas gracias ! Mark C BOG/COL

And .... the last variation of livery representing Venezuela´s ASERCA AIRLINES (but such has the popularity of the DC9 in Venezuala over the past 4 decades that this is by no means the end of the line in terms of these "YV" registered/operated aircraft) has just been added to the above presentation This latest addition features a maroon/white/gold livery (affectionately nicknamed "El Vinotinto"/Red wine) supported by DC9-31 YV-720C around 2005 .... shortly before her retirement from service. Gracias una veaz mas Alejandro ! Mark C BOG/COL

Just added 3 more classic/historic Venezuelan DC9 subjects to the above presentation .... this time featuring the following aircraft operated by AVENSA (Aerovías Venezolanas Sociedad Anonima) AVENSA DC9-32 YV-67C (1978) AVENSA DC9-31 YV-82C (1996) AVENSA DC9-31 YV-82C (1997) Muchismas gracias Alejandro ! AVENSA was formed May 13th 1943 and commenced cargo services during December 1943 .... operating FORD TRIMOTOR and STINSON RELIANT aircraft to Venezuela's oil rich Carteru region. During 1944 L10A aircraft were acquired and PAX services commenced. DC3's were added to the AVENSA fleet after WW2 and became the airlines principal aircraft type until 1955 when CV340's were introduced with services extended to the USA. By the early 1960's AVENSA had established an extensive domestic route network throughout Venezuela .... as well as international routes to Aruba, Jamaica, and both New Orleans and Miami in the USA. AVENSA's international services were later merged with those of LAV (AERIOPOSTAL) and which resulted in the formation of VIASA VENEZUELA .... in which AVENSA held a significant shareholding. During 1964 AVENSA entered the jet-age upon acquiring a CARAVELLE 3 jetliner. CV580 turboprops were also introduced during 1966 .... as were DC9 jetliners during the late 1960's .... followed by B727-100 and -200, and B737-200 jetliners during the mid 1970's. A fleet upgrade program commenced during the late 1980s with B737-300s being acquired .... followed by B757-200s .... but .... these late model aircraft were all disposed of during the 1990's when AVENSA ran into finacial difficulties .... reducing the airlines fleet to 11 B727's, 5 DC9's, and 2 B737-200's by the late 1990's. AVENSA also took-over some of VIASA'a international routes after that airline collapsed during 1997 .... and it also established a low-cost subsidiary in the form of SERVIVENSA. Later cutbacks eventally saw the disbanding of its SERVIVENSA subsidiary and the airlines domestic route network network eventually reduced to just 3 Venezuelan cities .... serviced by a single EMB 120 turboprop from the airlines Maiquetia base. By 2002 the airline had entered bankruptcy .... and was struggling to survive under a financial restructuring program. Today AVENSA apparently still exists .... technically ..... but .... it is essentially now a "defunct" operator. Mark C AKL/NZ

Added AVENSA DC9-32 YV-70C .... from around 1977 .... to the above flightline. Not much difference between it and 1978 sistership YV-67C .... appreciably .... but .... YV-70C does feature the darker version of the same fuselage cheatline and engine logo/livery. Gracias Alejandro ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Also recieved this 2nd AVENSA livery today too .... featuring DC9-32 YV-71C with a blue tail .... which is appasrently quite rare and what Alejandro regards as being the "penultimate AVENSA DC9-30 livery". I'm not quite sure about the date of this particular livery version though. Until Alejandro, or someone else can get back to me with definitive information regarding the date, I'm speculating that it might be from around 1979 .... but .... it could also be much later, or, even earlier than this. Muchismas gracias Alejandro ! Mark C AKL/NZ

One problem about the venezuelan planes is the lack of information about them. The pictures of the YV-70C and YV-71C were found in the forum's page www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=805794&page=28 and is the only information about this paintjob that I had found. It's the same about Isla Airlines: there is very few information about them, just the pictures. The next one that I will be releasing, YV-300C, ex Mateo Manaure, has the same problem, and by the tail's logo seems to be from the same year. The differences between YV-67C and YV-70C are subtle... the flag's position, a line over the window's stripe and the builder's logo in the engines, but all of them together qualifies in my opinion to make it a valid different texture. Anybody has more information about this planes?

Firstly .... I owe Alejandro an appology .... becuae I've been sitting on this particular file for the past couple of weeks .... being unable to preview it as quickly as I normally like to show-off our guys work due to other priorities .... as well as a new HJG project which we're all gearing up now to launch in the very near future Disculpeme para la molesta Alejandro/Sorry for this trouble Alejandro ;D As always .... Alejandro comes up with some "real beauties" .... and his following latest and "extremly rare" subject is no exception .... AVENSA/AEROPOSTAL DC9-31 YV-300C (1979)In fact this latest subject (understood to have apparently been jointly operated between AVENSA and AEROPOSTAL) is "so rare" that neither Alejandro .... nor myself .... are entirely certain of it's actual date. All we know is it "did" exist .... precisely as reproduced here by Alejandro .... around the late 1970's. So we're guessing "1979" Mchismas gracias Alejandro ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Today a DC-9-51 from Aeropostal, register YV136T had a VERY hard landing and broke both engines. So, jumping over my list of scheduled textures, I pretend to finish the corresponding texture by October 3, and hopefully be ready to download by the next site actualization. (Dedicated to all that rookie flightsimmers) :-)

Presenting Alejandro's very first "BIG NINE" (excluding his recent MD80's of course) .... in the form of AEROPOSTAL DC9-51 YV-136T "El Zuliano" in the airlines current/2011 livery .... just added to the above presentation as well being represented below .... Sadly .... 2 days ago .... and by "shear coincidence only" whilst Alejandro was painting this new subject for us .... this particular aircraft (YV-136T) was severely damaged as the result of an extremly hard landing at Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. See the following image .... Judging from the damage evident in the above image .... it appears to have been "QUITE A WHACK" . The aircrafts fuselage apparently remained "intact", but, the impact fractured the pylon attachments/fastners for both port and starboard engines .... as can be seen ! Fortunately no casualties appear to have resulted among any of the 125 PAX and crew aboard .... all of whom were successfully evacuated. I suspect the flight crew are now possibly engaged in some form of new employment .... "possibly as toilet cleaners" .... at one of Venezuela's major airports .... AND .... I seriously doubt this particular bird will ever fly again ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Whoa...it's indeed quite a damage. Luckily nobody got hurt. I don't want to imagine what might had happened.
