Hi,
This is really frustrating!
I have flown and enjoyed the Cathay Pacific 880M (ver. 1.2) several times, however taken a break from this aircraft (and FS) for a couple of months (my wife gave birth to a little girl).
Yet, this evening I fired the old bird up again. Filled 50% fuel in all tanks.
However, during take off, the aicraft rotated already at 100 knots. I pushed the joystick fully forward, also pressing the Elevator trim botton fully down. Only then could I maintain it on the tarmac a little further.
During initial climb from take-off, I have to push the joystick fully forward to maintain a steady ROC of around 2-3000 fpm.
And as I then engage the AP, the bird seems to have forgotten that it is a passenger vessel, instead it pretends to be Apollo 16 by going into a vertical climb into the stratosphere. Eventually it stalls and comes down on its tail. Even if I rotate the pitch wheel on the AP fully down, it just goes up, up..
Have I fogotten how to adjust elevator trim properly? I have read the manual several times.. but I must be blind?
BR, Anders

Sounds .... to me .... like you've got a "stuck elevator trim setting" prior to commencing your T/O run.
I've seen that inexplicably happen to some aircraft as they load into FS .... but .... I've not known it to happen with any of our CV880's or CV990's.
You should check/verify your elevator trim setting .... per the Center Pedestal sub panel .... and then manually adjust it, if necessary, to ensure the white indicator is within the green band, prior to T/O. That idicator should be centered around the mid-point of that green band .... but .... this may need to be further adjusted subjected to aircraft weight.
Do that .... and so long as you're within the green band then you should be fine !
I, personally, always recommend using the "HOME" (trim up) and "END" (trim down) keyboard commands rather than those recommended by M$ .... or those which may be assigned to joystick control devices which have proven, in the past, to be much too sensitive in some cases. I find that the use of "HOME/END" keyboard commands (as designated on my keyboard) always guarantees smooth aircraft responses right thrughout the trim range.
Also .... and as you may already know .... the AP trim wheels can only be used to adjust trim when inflight .... and .... only when the AP is in use. Again .... use "HOME/END" keyboard commands to adjust trim during manually controlled flight. I've recordede that 1 keyboard tap/stroke usuallyu equal about a 100 FPM ROC/ROD adjustment.
There are certainly no known issues/bugs relating to trim response with any of these aircraft .... that I'm aware of.
I presume you're using the CV880 panel/s and FDE available from this website .... rather than anything else that might have been release elsewhere !

Thank for the input. Well, I have a general problem here. It is my entire fleet - not only Hjg, but also other aircraft that I have tried out now, that now have a stuck elevator trim upon start up And Home, and End bottons and other I assigned for the purpose cannot change that.. What the he.. is this suddenly about? The only change I can remember is an upgrade of FSUIPC 3.98 to 3.99 (FS9 of course). But I have not made my control assigments in FSUIPC, but have kept them in FS. BR, Anders

Certainly not the product then .... or likely any other FS addon aircraft product either for that matter. I don't think FSUIPC would be causative of your experiences either .... unless one of it's settings has possibly been "inadvertently activated" so as to interact badly with your established controller device settings. Have you tried a complete recallibration of your controller devices .... even to the extent of maybe uninstalling/reinstalling their supporting software and drivers ? Possibly even removing your FS9.CFG file and then letting FS generate a new one in its place ? FINALLY .... maybe blame your wife .... "SABOTAGE" ;D Mark C AKL/NZ

Thank for the input. Well, I have a general problem here. BR, Anders Hi: Do you start FS with the default C 172 and checking that EVERTHING (elctric,AP,fuel, fuelpump...) is switched off? Maybe that helps. And after selecting the plane of choice check again if the AP is off and check the trim. And if you use numpad 1 7 as trim is numpad switched off (no green light on the keyboard) ?? If you have the trim on the joystick, check if not the uptrim button is stuck. Same if you have it on the keyboard. Good luck Walter

Hi again, I found the culprit! On my rig I also have installed Realflight 3.5, an RC-aircraft simulator. It uses a twin-pin controller similar to the transmitter normally used for RC-aircraft. This has normally not caused any problems. However, when its trims are deflected from central positions, it appearently affects FS - in the manner described in this thread I have no idea why. So again it was my own fault. I am sorry to have bothered you with this. BR, Anders

Glad to know you're sorted "ANDERSCN" .... even though I knew we/HJG weren't the culprit. Your're raising your concern/experience shouldn'tever be regarded as any bother .... simply because it gave us the opportunity to recommend other (what I believe to be better) alternative trim options, as well as just reminding folf about some of the AP functions and rsponses with these aircraft too. That's important .... I feel .... so .... NO PROBLEMO AMIGO ! Mark C AKL/NZ
