Again David, very nice screen shots and scenery.
A few years ago we stopped off in Tortola on a Caribbian cruise. It's a beautifull island, however, I'm not so sure if the airport could accomodate DC-9's.
Cheers; Herman

Cheers; Herman Hi Herman yep knew it would be dicey it took every inch of the runway to land first time second time I went into the sea. Its more like for Twin Otters and such but thought it would fit BWIA in terms of scenery. Took every inch to take off as well. thanks Dave

4,642 meters .... apparently .... .... which should be workable for a DC9-30 .... in terms of it's available length .... I should think Whether or not that particular RWY is sufficiently reinforced as to be able to handle a DC9-30 .... a -34 in particular (which is what BWIA operated) which, among DC9-30's, has the highest weight capability .... is probably the more valid question Mark C AKL/NZ

DC 9's have operated form less than 5,000 FEET
4642 metres is long enough even for 707's

Once again .... I guess it just comes back to sufficient RWY reinforcing and the availability of other technical aids/support too !

Bearing strenth...that's something else and is a limit on our local runway, but that doesn't affect runways in FS........thank goodness ;D

That's one of the beauties of FS .... in that one can do anything/anyone anytime and almost anywhere too ;D Not so realistic maybe .... but .... I guess it does add to the fun Mark C AKL/NZ

I am sure that it is just a typo bluber Mark, and I don't want to appear too sticky, but the runway at Tortola is... "4612ft.\1520 meters".... in length, which is the reason why I quirried the airport being able to handle DC-9's.

That would be a bit tight Herman except with perhaps an uneconomic load

I thinks it's "METERS" .... as quoted/copied & pasted by me above (per the "M") .... but .... I didn't verify the information officially.
