Actually, no. It was pretty fuel efficient. The Jetstar I had a range of ~2400nm, the Jetstar II had a range of about 2700nm.
BTW, one of the more famous current Jetstar owners is Michael Dorn of Star Trek fame.

The -23? It was (thirsty). And fast. It could pass anything in its day, except a gas station. ;D

The usable fuel capacity on the Jetstar was 2,580 US Gallons, or about 17,280 lbs of fuel. That averages out to about 7.2lbs/nm fuel efficiency with an MTOW of 44,500lbs. The Citation Soverign has a 2800nm range and carries ~11,200 lbs of fuel. That works out to 4lbs/nm fuel efficiency with an MTOW of 30,550lbs. So, it's about half as fuel efficient as a modern jet, but considering how inefficient a lot of the old jets were, that's not bad.
Compare that to the DC-8-55 that required 72lbs/nm for a 330,000lbs MTOW.

Any chance for an update to the Jetstarr or a Jetstarr II with the Garret fans?

Unless Dee ever wants to update it privately .... we/HJG have no plans to update the JETSTAR beyond the status that it was when we authorized Jim HALINDA to re-release it a few years ago and on behalf of HJG.
The JETSTAR is no longer an HJG represented/supported aircraft type,

Great threads here on corporate jets.
Moreover, love the Dee/HJG Jetstar to bits and flew her wings off in FS9. Hours of endless pleasure, notwithstanding the lack of a VC. Dee's is the best looking model and, yes, were he to do a JetStar II that would be great indeed. Shame the FSD JetStar for FSX was cancelled. Exterior model sure looked good.
