Hello First of all, thank you for the latest update, it's a nice christmas surprise ;D I have a question regarding the assignment of the rear stairs to the tail hook command. Is there any way it can be re-assigned to use the wing fold command instead? I suspect it's part of the model file and that'll need to be modified, but I figure I'd ask anyway. There are two excellent MD-80 panels available (not to knock on the Marco Spada/Paul Golding's efforts as theirs are very nicely done), but users may want to take a look at these too as they model the real thing more closely. They are Samuli Sutinen's/Aldus panels, and Lonney Payne's, both sets include analog, digital, or a combination of both displays. They can be found here: Samuli: efis.altervista.org/Samuli%20MD80.htmFlightsim.com, search for Lonney Payne or MD-80 flightdeck. The engine gauges will not be correct of course and would require tweaking for the HJG model. The second conflict is that these panels were made with the SGA model in mind, so the landing light switches activate the tailhook command (since the SGA model uses the tailhook animation to raise/lower the wingtip landing lights). Using them on the HJG model results in lowering of the aft air stairs! My suggestion is to change the animation of the rear air stairs in the HJG models during a future update so that it is activated by the "wingfold" command instead...think of it as a "DB Cooper switch" on the 727s which prevents the air stairs from being deployed in flight! ;D Thank you again for the great work!

I've started looking at the Lonny Payne panel. As usual, the biggest problem is in EPR calibration.
IF you use the JCA version, then the issue with the airstairs extending when using the landing lights is eliminated.
One big issue I've found is that I can't seem to get the course and heading selectors to increment in single degrees; they only seem to go in increments of 10 degrees when I click the + or - regions. If you know how to do that it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know.

That's interesting, I haven't been able to reproduce that problem, both the course and heading indicators increase in single digits when I click on them. There's no right-clicking on these gauges so I'm wondering why you're getting the 10degree increments. Will let you know if I figure it out.
I did just notice that the HJG model has the wingtip landing lights mapped to the tailhook animation, just like the older SGA models. It's probably worthwhile to modify the new HJG models to remap the aft stair animation to the wingfold command, but I imagine the model files have to be updated for that.

Well the problem with the HDG and Course knobs incrementing by 10's seems to lie within the HJG aircraft cfg file; definitely not in the panel cfg. When I subbed the unretouched JCA aircraft cfg file into the aircraft the knobs worked fine. I then proceded to do a side-by side comparison and substitution between the HJG and the JCA cfg files. I gave up I first subbed in the autopilot section... nothing, radio section... nothing.... on and on. Only when I used a fresh JCA cfg supplied by Payne did I get things to work. I have no idea why. So now I'm approaching from a different angle... starting with the JCA cfg, then modifying it to fit with the HJG models. It's still rather frustrating to me tha I can't find that one line in the cfg that causes the panel knobs to behave that way. George.... any ideas? Mike

Why there´s an apparent succeptability for some panels/gauges (namely selectable HDG and VOR values to become stuck in 10* (degree) rather than 1* (degree) increments I know not, BUT, I don't think the answer wil be found in CFG files or anything FDE related.
I believe this´s a known FS problem which affects some panel/gauge programming .... though not any ours/HJG´s thankfully.
When I say it´s a "known problem" .... there is, and always has been, a permanent FSUIPC supplied fix for this particular problem. I forget the name of this fix, but, so far as I´m aware it's now only available per a fully registered FSUIPC version .... and it "IS" very effective.
I´ve seen this particular issue arise, in the past, in a number of different panels, and through various FS versions. Some systems might be more encouraging of this sort of problem occurring .... from what I´ve seen.
George and I encountered this particular issue a few years ago whilst undertaking pre-release testing of our DC8 panel gauges set .... and he "FIXED IT" completely .... per identifying and editing out the specific gauge programming succeptability .... as I recall.
From what I´ve seen of this problem .... I´ve also observed that rotating (mousing) HDG and VOR course selectors too aggressively (rather than using a multitude of individual clicks to set a particular value) seems to be an absolute guarantee of this sort of problem occurring on those panels/gauges sets manifesting such succeptability .... AND .... when it does occur the problem can also disappear again after a couple of minutes, or, after manipulating other gauges, or, traversing between other sub panel views during the general course of events.
I´ve additionally noted that loading the MSFS CESSNA (or any other MSFS default aircraft) into an FS session "prior to selecting the aircraft/panel of choice" often results in this particular issue not then becomming apparent at all .... BUT .... it can still be caused later as mentioned above.
I don´t mind this issues being discussed here .... if it´s going to aid someone elses FS enjoyment .... BUT .... I perhaps need to remind everyone that the MD80 panel versions (by Samuli SUTINEN/ALDUS and Lonny PAYNE) being discussed "HERE" aren´t HJG offerings, and therefore the problem isn´t ours or really within the realms of our responsibility to resolve.
This particular problem doesn´t affect any of the currently HJG supplied panels .... MD80 or other.
I also hasten to add .... the MD80 panels we offer "HERE" haven´t, yet, been subjected to HJG editing (as stated within the release notes) .... BUT AGAIN .... I´m not aware of any issues affecting these "panels provided they are used with the recomended aircraft base packs".

So far as I´ve been advised .... there won't be any further editing undertaken on any of the currently supplied HJG MD80/90 models.
