I recently downloaded the EFIS Panel to replace some older freeware panel files for my MD fleet, however during some test flights yesterday I was unable to change the Altimeter settings on the panel. I'm fairly familiar with the gauge used for the artificial horizion/altimeter/airspeed display and usually the altimeter controls are linked to either the left or the right side knob at the bottom of the gauge (Circled in red in the attachment). Am I missing something or going to the wrong area to change the altimeter?

I presume you're talking about barometric pressure/altimeter setting .... right ! "IF SO" .... then have you tried pressing the keyboard "B" command after passing above or below 17,500 FT during climb or descent .... and which would, normally, alter a 2991 setting to read 2992. I don't recall there being such an issue in this panel .... at least not one that we're able to fix (since none of the MDX panels we currently offer have been modified to HJG preferences .... despite their all otherwise working well) .... BUT .... I'll have another look, in case I did miss something, and report back later on. Mark C AkL/NZ

OK .... I've just done/performed a quick check/"recheck" of this panel .... using the HJG B717-200 simulation .... and which shouldn't behave any differently when used with any of the HJG MDX simlations. "IF" it is that barometric pressure/altimeter indication located at the bottom right of the PFD screen to which you're referring .... then .... so far as I can determine .... there's no issue/problem to be resolved. The knobs which you've hilited within your image are intentionally "NON-FUNCTIONAL". When loaded into any FS session .... with the simulation normally on the ground on the default KSEA RWY 34R threshold .... the pressure reading will always indicate "2992/10132". This's quite normal in FS. Unlike is the case with some FS panels .... and even some other HJG offerred panels .... there's no specific knob, in this particular B717-200/MDX panel, to directly adjust the QNH indication. To adjust this indication to reflect a "2991/10131" indication, on the ground, or, whenever passing below 17,500 FT .... then simply depress keyboard command "B" .... AND .... when passing through/above 17,500 FT (in FS it's generally 18,000 FT) simply depress keyboard command "B" and the QNH indication will automatically change to "2992/10132". I hope that helps you out .... in as much as it also relieves me to know that all's definitely well there ;D Mark C AKL/NZ

Ok, I will have to see if the "B" key does the trick. I've never used that function before since most of the stock or freeware panels I use have a knob or button to increase/decrease the barometric pressure (sorry about the mis-identification) reading. Thanks for the tips. I'll take the MD up later and let you know.

You should be "fine" .... in fact I'll go ouit on a limb here to say you "WILL BE FINE" .... because that keyboard command "B" is a standard FS command in order to be able to change the barometric pressure/Altimeter indication in any panel/s not equipped with a specific knob/button to fascilitate this Mark C AKL/NZ

Right you are. Worked like a charm. I'll have to chalk this whole thing up to me not even knowing about the B button and its function, despite having FS since 98. Oh well, ya learn something new every day! ;D

There should be a warning message telling you to press the B button when the pressure need correcting, have you never seen that??

Only if you have the flight tips turned on. Otherwise, it won't show up.
