Hello- I got the HJG DC-8-71 and only the Delta and United textures show up. Another problem is that the landing gear is stuck in the plane and the whole thing is frozen. What am I doing wrong? Someone please respond as soon as possible.

Where did you get it from? Which Panel are you using, which 3rd. party programs are you using...?

If you have all the downloads from this site, you need to read through the install directions for FSX right here in this part of the forum, as you have apparently not done it correctly.

Apparently not :-), otherwise you would be flying the DC-8-7 in FSX.... which many have done before you .... try walking it through slowlym part by part, instead of rushing it through ... remember to rename the files you are supposed to rename, remember to place the right folders where you are supposed to... etc. etc....

Despite the fact that the HJG DC8's are not FSX native .... I too .... can assure everyone .... that "IF" installed properly/correctly, as per those procedures carefully outlined within Dan's FSX installation tutorials on this forum page (there are, apparently, 3 ways to "successfully" install these files within FSX) .... then the HJG DC8's most certainly "WILL" appear, within the FSX aircraft selrection menu, load into FSX upon being selected, and then remain as enjoyable to fly within this FS version as they are in FS2004 also. We cannot perform the installation for one. All we can do is guide one as clearly as we try .... and which is why Dan has set out the recommended FSX installation procedure/s for all HJG simulations and as per the said tutorials. Failure to follow these recommendations "TO THE LETTER" will, likely, result in one experiencing an FS "NO SHOW". In this particular case .... I recommend you check that all of your [FLSTIM.XX] entries are in correct numerical sequence .... and are also correctly edited in accordance with the actual folder names contained within the aircraft base packs and other necessary destinationn FS folders .... other than ensuring that the rest of your installation procedure has also been performed correctly too. Throughout the past 6-7 years during which these DC8 simulations have been available for use within FSX I have "NEVER" previously heard of any such condition. Are you using your DC8-71's with the correct aircraft base pack FDE ? Are you also using your DC8-71's with the recommended HJG DC8 panels provided .... or .... are you using alternative panel options .... and, possibly, other non-HJG supplied edits for these particular files also ? Successful/Enjoyable use of HJG simulations cannot be guaranteed unless the correct/recommended files are paired with each simulation .... and unless "HJG supplied" files are being used in particular. This applies to "ALL" HJG simulations generally and not just for the HJG DC8's specifically. ALSO .... HJG endeavours to respond to all/most forum queries "quickly" (as soon as possible) .... but remember .... this group is not a business and nor is it a professional institution either. Each member "HERE" is a volunteer only .... and .... given each of our personal real world responsibilities it is, often, not possible for any of us to attend to queries as quickly as some might like/expect us to be able to do. It's no big deal .... but do bear this in mind in the future .... "PLEASE" Mark C AKL/NZ

Regarding your problem with the "stuck landing gear and the whole thing is frozen". What do you mean by this exactly. If you are saying that the whole image is frozen and FSX is stopped (stuck), then I can tell you that this ocurrs occassionally when I am running FSX. It could be the fault of FSX or my operating system ( Vista) but when it happens, usually when I am changing views, it all freezes up. I have never been able to find a reason for this, but what I do, is wait for about 8 to 10 minutes and then it all starts to come back on it's own Herman

Hey Herman, I have the same problem in FSX & Vista, but it usually comes back in about 2 to 4 minutes. Guess I'm lucky. I think it is a Vista thing, as it does not happen with 7!

I rest my case .... I've written 3 different ways to install our aircraft in FSX, and if you are not able to follow any of them, I don't think that I'm capable of doing much more for you.
