Each file offered by HJG downloads with installation instructions which are, normally, quite sufficient for most folk to follow .... but ...."IF" your new to FS file structure, or, not entirely comfortable with computers (and let's face it not everyone is) or simply have to learn procedures .... then I'll try'n talk you through a typical aircraft base pack and texture installtion procedure and which should be enough to get you, and anyone else, "up and running".
1. Let's start with the aircraft base pack installation ....
The DC9-30 JT8D-15 version ZIP file is named as follws ....
hjg mcdonnell douglas dc-9-30 jt8d-15 v1.13.zip
Once extracted/unzipped you'll see the following folder which is the container from the ZIP file and which is named as follws ....
hjg mcdonnell douglas dc-9-30 jt8d-15 v1.13
Inside the above container you will find the actual DC9-30 JT8D-15 aAircraft Base Pack folder which is named as follows ....
HJG McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 JT8D-15 v1.13
You need to install this particular folder (completely intact) inside FS2009 "AIRCRAFT" folder. This DC9-30 JT8D-15 Aircraft Base Pack and contains each of the following components ....
- MODEL.01
- MODEL.02
- MODEL.03
- MODEL.04
- MODEL.05
- MODEL.06
- PANEL FOLDER (default MSFS 2004 assigned CFG.FILE)
- SOUND FOLDER (default MSFS 2004 assigned CFG.FILE)
- AIRCRAFT.CFG
- AIR.FILE (named "DC9-30.AIR" .... or it may simply appear as "DC9-30")
- HJG END USER LICENCE AGREEMENT
- HJG INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
.... "DO NOT" remove any of these components from the aircraft base pack.
2. Moving on to the texture folder installation ....
The texture ZIP folder for the 1996 VALUEJET livery is named as follows ....
dc-9-30_valujet_1996_32_n930vv_v1.zip
Once extracted/unzipped you'll see the following folder which is, once again, the container from the ZIP file and which is named as follows ....
dc-9-30_valujet_1996_32_n930vv_v1
Inside the above container you will find the actual VALUJET 1996 DC9-30 Texture folder which is named as follows ....
texture.vja_1996_n930vvv
.... along with the following data also ....
- ADD TO AIRCRAFT file (containing FLTSIM.XX texture data for the CFG.FILE
- DC9-30 VALUE JET 1996 N939VV preview image (for FSX primarily)
- HJG END USER LICENCE AGREEMENT
- HJG INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
You need to install this particular texture folder (completely intact) inside your "HJG McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 JT8D-15 v1.13" Aircraft Base Pack folder.
3. Moving on now to editing the AIRCRAFT.CFG file with texture/FLTSIM.XX/ADD TO AIRCRAFT data .... and this step is critical in order for the texture to be recognised and displayed by FS ....
You need to open the ADD TO AIRCRAFT text file inside your texture folder container. It features the following data for FS2004 ....
[fltsim.xx]
title=DC-9-30 ValuJet Airlines '1996'
sim=DC-9-30
model=02
panel=
sound=
texture=vja_1996_n930vvv
description=HJG McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 v1
kb_checklists=
atc_id=N930VV
atc_airline=CRITTER
atc_flight_number=930
atc_heavy=0
atc_parking_codes=VJA
atc_parking_types=GATE,CARGO,RAMP
ui_manufacturer=McDonnell Douglas
ui_type=DC-9-30
ui_variation=ValuJet Airlines '1996'
Simply copy & paste the above data (complete) to the top of your AIRCRAFT.CFG file ..... placing it between the following sections of the AIRCRAFT.CFG file ....
// DC-9-40 (JT8D-15) v1.12
// April 2010
// Add your [fltsim.xx] sections here.
// Remember to start with 0 (zero).
// Copyright Historic Jetliners Group.
// No uploading of HJG materials to any website without prior approval
**** "INSERT HERE" ****
[GENERAL]
Then .... assuming this is your first/only DC9-30 JT8D-15 texture installation .... you must also edit/change the FLTSIM.XX data line to read as follows ....
[fltsim.0]
.... and then "SAVE" this edit.
And that's all there is to it .... you can, now, "throw away" any remaining (unsused) data from either the 2 ZIP file containers
Perform your installation procedure/s strictly in accordance with the above instructions and you won't/shouldn't experience any difficulties whatsoever.
It's "quite simple" .... once one is clear in regard to how to go about everything.
Repeat the very same procedure for any/every other DC9-30 texture you wish to install inside your DC9-30 JT8D Aircraft .... but remember .... the FLTSIM.XX data line (only) in the AIRCRAFT.CFG file will then need to be edited in strict numerical sequence (following the first/FLTSIM.O entry) for each additional texture inclusion and as follows ....
[fltsim.1]
[fltsim.2]
[fltsim.3] etc
Again .... it's all "quite straight-forward" .... or rather .... this's as straight-forward as I can possiblt make it
