Hi Anyone who knows
I keep getting the dialog box (Press B to set altitude whenever using FS2004) it does this every 10 minutes or so when flying aircraft and I have to keep resetting It used to be only once at takeoff this would come on to set Runway elevation , the feet +- sea level. aaaaaaany info on how to stop this would be appreciated. Dave

What simulations are you using and what panels are you using with these Dave ? .... might be a good place to start I´ve never known this to occur with any HJG simulations though. I routinely use keyboard command "B" (it´s usually a good ptractice to hit it every so often) to quickly adjust the altimeter barometric pressure indication (from 2991 to 2992) whenever climbing above or descending below 18,000 FT in FS (other times I´ll use the panel altimeter adjutmemnt gauge in order to set any other indication), but, I´ve never, ever, seen any dialogue box appearibg in FS to remind me. Have you installed a program .... or module perhaps .... like some kind of weather generating utility for instance .... that might be responsible for this ? And "IF" the above might be the case .... then is that program itself "fully/exclusively" FS2004 compatible .... since, you say, there´s a "WHEN USING FS2004" suffix associated with the dialogue you´re seeing ? Dave,
Sounds like you are using LIVE real world weather feed, aren't you?

Thanks Mark I did install a cloud refining download that makes clouds look more closer to reality, that could be it, forgot the name its been a while. I usually keep hitting space bar but it became so frequent thought i would enquire. Dave

WU2004 Suffix.... I did not punctuate Correctly as is my predisposition to occasionally do, Shortcut s is me sometimes and sometimes they dont work too well. Maybe I still have Jetlag from my recent flight London,Gatwick to California via Tampa.

When I am flying on FSX, if the weather changes from fair to thunderstorm or strong winds or snowstorm, FSX always automatically asks me to check altimeter and asks me to reset altimeter by using button "b".

Mark C BOG/CO Hi: FS9 has a built in facility called "flying tips" or so, that tells you things like press "E" to start engines or press "B" if your altimeter is not set correctly. After T.O. passing 18.000 ft it will remind you to put your altimeters on 1013 mb. You can switch off that nuisance in the FS menue "settings-realism-flying tips". As most experienced FS users have switched the flying tips off (e.g.: because starting engines on advanced simulations often doesnt work with pressing "E"), it may sound strange if somebody experiences it. Kind regards Walter P.S.: If you stay low (below 18.000 ft) and FS9 is switched to receive weather updates (every 15 minutes) the "flying tips" will remind you to change the altimeter to the new setting. You dont need an additional weather creating addon for that.

Actually Dave .... what Walters advises "COULD BE IT"/the solution to your particular issue. Using FS fo "s-o l-o-n-g" myself .... I´ve not used the built-in "FLYING TIPS" since Adam was a lad/inch high to a grasshopper .... a very long time to say the least. In fact I don´t think I´ve ever used this facility at all .... preferring, instead, to deactivate it from the day I first installed FS2004 and which was "MANY MOONS" ago. As Walter suggests .... just try deactivating this pasrticular option and the see what happens/"SUCK´N´SEE" "THANKS" walter "IF" you use the "QUICK REPLY" (only) option which apears below the last posting on any thread then you won´t see/be able to access any of the SMILEY´s .... unless you know how to manually type the appropriate characters for these. However .... "IF" you select the "REPLY" (only) tab which appears at the bottom right of the last posting on any thread .... then you´ll see, and be able to access, these features, and others, from the menu bar appearing above the page upon which you compile your reply text. It´s just part of the new PROBOARDS forum format which everyone has to get used to .... I´m afraid Mark C BOG/CO

Hi: As I have my hangar full of Russian Airplanes and no one starts with contr.-E and the Russian way of flying is also very different in treating altimeter settings (below 900 m agl QFE above that standartathmosspere (1013 mb) metric system) the Flying Tips are useless, when I changed to my new PC I had to remember that, cause the default setting of FS9 is "Flying Tips on". Kind regards Walter

Thanks Mark,Walter Yes flying tips, will chk that out, think I do have that on Usually when fs2004 boots up the aircraft have all but one engine running which I Ctrl E to start. Otherwise they start pulling to the right Not sure what FS function controls how engines start on using fs9 I have searched all available settings that are viewable. Engines will not be running on start up if I had shut them all down before I resumed a new flight however. So then manual start happens. Dave Thanks ahayron also

Hi:
There are also key commands for start engine 1, 2, and so on. But normaly (not the advanced simulations) "contr E" should start all available engines.

Walter P.: If you open with F10 the kneeboard you can call the list of FS keyboard commands and there you find under engine commands how to change to all engines with "contr E". Good Luck Walter
